Last night, @AcademyApd brought together leading experts to reflect on the nation's past, evaluate its present, and map out the future. The discussion centered on four defining pillars: state-building, social cohesion, economic growth, and foreign policy.

3/3 The workshop created a platform for dialogue, bringing together female candidates, women activists, and civil society members to contribute ideas and recommendations to strengthen the research and advance women’s political participation in #Somaliland.

2/3 The presentation shared the research findings on the challenges women face in political participation. These challenges vary, including cultural and social norms, financial constraints, and limitations in how women develop and manage their campaign strategies.

APD’s ED Omar Yusuf, on behalf of the staff, congratulates the people of Somaliland on the historic milestone of 26 December 2025, marking Somaliland’s first international recognition following Israel’s announcement. This reflects decades of resilience and commitment to statehood
APD office in Hargeisa hosted Ms. Louise Hancock @HeadBritOffice, and colleagues for an exchange on peacebuilding, governance, and security trends across Somaliland, including Awdal, Sanaag, and Sool.
The meeting reaffirmed shared priorities and continued collaboration.
APD held a training in Hargeisa on understanding Meta’s updated Community Standards, targeting social media influencers and digital creators.
The session focused on responsible content creation, online safety, countering misinformation, and fostering a safe digital space.
APD wrapped up a key training in Burao for the Togdheer Peace Committee, led by Exec. Dir. Omar Adan. The workshop focused on using social media to counter misinformation, prevent violence, and strengthen peacebuilding efforts in the region.
After 10 years, APD held its Strategic Review Meeting in Burao on 9–10 Sept 2025. The two-day retreat set APD’s 2025–2030 direction, focusing on research, governance, sustainability, and communications. The outcomes mark a renewed vision for APD’s role in Somaliland.
