It should be an interesting couple of days for the Academy players as a few will be hoping to get out on loan.

Jack Robinson joined National League side Yeovil Town on loan for the season but didn't feature at the weekend.

As for Boro's academy loan players - Kilmarnock and Zach Hemming's 100% record in the Scottish Championship ended with a 1-0 defeat to Inverness CT who move above them into top spot. Kilmarnock are 3rd. Rumarn Burrell remains injured.

In the same division, Sol Brynn and Queen of the South lost 2-1 at home to Hamilton. They are now 7th.

The win moves Boro up to 5th. The next league game is 11th September, Man Utd (a).

Boro's u18s also picked up their first win of the season, 4-1 at home to Everton. First year scholar Sonny Finch scored his first two goals of the season. There were also goals for midfielder Jack Stott and striker Alex Hutchinson.

First appearance of the season as well for Ste Walker. Boro's first points puts them 10th and their next league game is Stoke (h) on 13th September.

Boro's u23s beat Southampton 2-1 yesterday. First goals of the season for Jeremy Sivi and Josh Coburn. Martin Payero played and there was a welcome return in goal for Brad James who it was feared might be out for a while with an elbow injury.

Nathan Wood called up for England u20s. He made 9 appearances for England u18s.

After a two-year hiatus, the #U18PLCup is back! Seven groups of 4 Cat 1 teams with winners and best runner-up advancing to the quarter-finals. Somewhat confusingly, this will run alongside the U17 version that initially replaced it, while an U16 competition will also mirror it.

The #PLCup is back! An Under-23 competition for Cat 1, 2 and invited qualifying Cat 3 teams, with six group stage fixtures each before a knockout round. Here's this season's draw.

11th v 10th in the u18 Premier League tomorrow (12:30) with Boro playing Everton.
13th v 11th in PL2 for the u23s on Sunday (noon) with Boro playing Southampton.

Finally, Sol Brynn debuted for Queen of the South in the Scottish Championship as they won 3-2 at Morton.
Brynn v Hemming is set for 30 October.

Hayden Coulson made his first start for Ipswich in L1 as they drew 2-2 with MK Dons. He was subbed after 60 mins by Matt Penney who he looks set to battle the LB spot with

LOAN WATCH pt1
Lewis Wing started again for Sheffield Wednesday in League One. He played 59 minutes of the 2-0 win and picked up a booking.
Zach Hemming kept a clean sheet in Kilmarnock's 2-0 win at Hamilton in the Scottish Championship as they stayed top.

Ones to look out for in the u18s: first year scholars who have already made 2/2 appearances: Max Howells, Luke Woolston, Ash McCarthy and Sonny Finch. The latter has also made 1 sub appearance for the u23s already.

2/2 appearances so far for the u23s this season: Nathan Wood, Connor Malley, Hayden Hackney, Will Kokolo, Cain Sykes, Isaac Fletcher, Joe Gibson, Alberto Balde, Max Metcalfe. All have pro contracts.

Boro u23s lost 2-1 at home to Villa on Friday night. Two goals in two games for midfielder Isaac Fletcher who made the bench for the first team last year.

Boro u18s drew 2-2 at Burnley yesterday in their second league match. First goals of the season for midfielder Max Howells and defender Frankie Whelan. Boro sit 11th in the table.
