@WhatTheADHD Was my favorite subject in school! And even though I went to college for something completely different, I ended up getting my teaching license in math because I so enjoy all the different angles you can use to approach teaching the concepts (no pun intended! )
I wrote about the way ADHD diagnostics leave girls of color behind, and the way internet content creators have raised awareness around symptoms in adulthood. My first for the NY Times Styles desk!

@elhiperfocus@AskADHD I wear @flareaudio to tamp down the all day barrage of household/kid noises. They’re really comfortable so I forget I’m wearing them. I own 3 Calmer, but wish I had a pair of the new nighttime ones, too!
@elhiperfocus@AskADHD Hmm... wasn’t familiar with hyperacusis, but I guess it fits me. I’ve used Calmer ear buds for about 6 mos. I didn’t really notice a difference at first, but after wearing them regularly, I can tell if I’ve forgotten bc I’m wayyy more stressed by dinner time.
I would create a routine, get bored, and fall out of love with it. Then I would feel like I failed. Then I would try again with a new routine. This repetition made me feel like I was on a perpetual treadmill, running and running but getting nowhere. https://t.co/CCJ985pZ7F
“The difference is: loving yourself isn't contingent on making things better, you love yourself regardless. But because you love yourself, you're also going to take action to improve things at the same time. #selfcompassion

@sickandsalty In the military healthcare system, you can submit ICE comments - positive or negative - and I've done this in the past for unethical & life endangering medical treatment (or lack thereof).
@adhdadulting Also FWIW before going back in person, we leaned hard on the morning routine w/ our pts chart to get more consistent. Our family therapist thought we chose something too low priority, but getting off to a calm start literally makes or breaks the day at our house 👍🏽
@adhdadulting You have good strategies in place & are an introspective mom!! 🧡 Transitions are hard. I find ME being prepared ahead is THE biggest key to a calm experience. If I’m flustered, it sets everyone off. If mine are still edgy, I just ignore & breathe - cliche but what I can control.
When a child is diagnosed with #ADHD, it can be difficult to find the silver lining – to identify a child's ADHD Advantage. But when outrageously successful entrepreneurs like @petershankman talk about the ADHD advantage, they make it sound almost easy. https://t.co/jCh98SJiU3
The Unlocking Us convo with Drs. Emily and Amelia Nagoski changed the way we talk about stress in our house AND how we "complete our stress cycles."

Busy ADHD'ers: "Ahh! So many things! Why did I do this to myself!? >.< This is so stressful I can't wait for this to end so I can relax"
'Relaxing' ADHD'ers: "Ahh! The boredom is eating me alive! Why did I do this to myself!? >.< I need things to do!"
@annagranta Ugh, right? ADHD tax for real! Now I only order books from Amazon because they write "You ordered this on [date]" at the top of every page I visit to almost accidentally reorder 😂
@adhdadulting Omg I just had a panic attack at the Dr's yesterday! Every year I think I'm getting a little further from my trauma and then bam! Nope. Still stressful!! FWIW, I hope you did better than me on the final 😉💗
