23 July 1930 | A French Jewish girl, Mireille Rebecca Marcovici, was born in Nice.
In May 1944 she was deported to #Auschwitz. She was murdered in a gas chamber after the selection.
Republicans are hammering "Joe Biden's America" as a land of rising violent crime, surging immigration and out of control inflation, but there's just one problem: The numbers are moving in the opposite direction. https://t.co/EcpCiR3Txv
This video really does need to get around. It is pretty remarkable and probably the best, most succinct statement about why RFK, Jr’s candidacy needs to be totally rejected. The only thing he doesn’t mention, which I think is important to remind folks of, is that RFK, Jr was talked into this by Steve Bannon.
Today I’m hearing all of the good old boys and girls saying if you don’t like Jason Aldean you don’t have to listen to him. Gotcha. And if you don’t like certain library books you don’t have to ban them ‘cause you ain’t going to read them.
Jason Aldean’s original video for “Try That in A Small Town” included a newspaper clip about a publisher who was run out of a small Mississippi town after he used satire to mock racists in the 1950s.
Try That in A Small Town
Small Town: Jasper, TX, population 6900
Tried: To Get A Ride Home in Jasper, Texas, on June 7, 1998.
James Byrd accepted a ride home from Shawn Berry and two friends. Instead of taking Byrd home, the three men took Byrd to a remote county road, beat him severely, spray-painted his face, Slashed his throat urinated and defecated on him, and chained him by his ankles to their pickup truck before dragging him for about three miles. Shawn Berry, Lawrence Brewer, and John King dragged him for three miles behind a Ford pickup truck along an asphalt road. Byrd, who remained conscious for much of his ordeal, was killed about halfway through the dragging when his body hit the edge of a culvert, severing his right arm and head. The murderers drove on for another 1+1⁄2 miles before dumping his torso in front of a black cemetery.

For all the scolding of the left for calling SCOTUS illegitimate (which it is), let the record reflect that the first people to openly defy a ruling by it are…the GOP-controlled state legislatures of Alabama, who are refusing to redraw maps to better represent black constituents
@JackPosobiec How "beta" is it for you to waste time and effort crying over a BARBIE movie??
No heavily menstruating, peri-menopausal, PMS-addled woman in the WORLD cries, bitches, and moans as hard as you sorry ass right-wing, insufferable twats do.
... the fucking Barbie movie...
@TxnCmbtVt @MarshaBlackburn@ChuckGrassley Because there was zero proof. Anyone can play this game. Why isn’t Marsha in jail for her alleged drug fueled orgies? See how easy it is to play?
The redrawing of congressional maps, even when done under court order, is still a negotiated process. Alabama Republicans are floating an initial map they know has literally zero chance of being approved, as a starting position. Once it's rejected, the next map (or the one after that or after that) will end up falling within the court mandated parameters for fairness. But we were never going to see that with the initial proposed map, for the same reason you go into a negotiation initially saying you want 20, knowing your adversary will say 10, and you'll end up on 15.
Unfortunately a lot of folks on our side are trying to spin this up as some kind of doomsday hysteria thing where Alabama Republicans have now magically stolen a House seat and will "get away with it all" in spite of the court order. But ten seconds of critical thought and you realize that obviously nothing works that way.
In reality we've already won the Alabama congressional map battle. The courts have already definitively ruled that there must be two minority districts in the state, and when the smoke clears, there absolutely will be. There is no magic wand scenario – literally none – where today's proposed map or anything close to it could ever possibly be approved by the courts. The courts have already ruled. It's already over. The end.
