When things are oversaturated

A reminder that oshi and kamioshi are real terms stemming from Japanese idol culture that have existed long before VTubing.

Oshi has always been a broad “person I support / want to push” term. It comes from osu (推す) meaning push or recommend. Not necessarily favorite. It’s always been acceptable to have multiple oshis.

Kamioshi means this is the person I will support above everyone. This idol takes priority over the other idols I like. Unlike oshi, you can only have one kamioshi.

If you’re gonna be using these terms to target people over who and how they choose to support others, at least know what you’re talking about.
