@SonnyBunch This post has to be sarcastic bait, right? Right?
I mean, this guy has "words" in the Atlantic and he's calling for "Big Hollywood" to be swamped by Elon's trash AI slop? This has to be a bit. Right?
@SonnyBunch This is a joke right? I despised Nolan's Odyssey. Not because it was "woke" but because its pace was off, the script sucked, the sound mix was a mess, and the casting was abysmal.
But this feels worse. Get off your knees for Elon. This is the Bulwark's Culture guy? Yikes.
@AlaskanNative49@Papa_Heme were they cool? They seem cool. Hopefully you're not gonna tell me they're the worst humans ever lol.
When I was younger I thought they were just sort of a joke band. But Quebec got me listening to them and then the whole discography opened up in a new light.
@Maguiredinho@onlynateatkins@TheCinesthetic I'd agree it doesn't hit S1 level.
But the original question was about underrated TV. I think S3 100% fits that mold. rarely gets mentioned.
@betty_egg I don't think it's a hot take. I think it's the right take. Linkin Park was derivative and got so incredibly overplayed.
Korn is fucking insane in the best way. Blind at Woodstock is 100x better than anything Linkin Park ever did. Ever.
@scttfrnks Is it top 5 film worthy? No. Is it top 50? I think it's debatable.
I used to think There Will Be Blood was better but, ironically, on rewatch, the ending of No Country with Tommy Lee, not Blood, is what convinced me No Country is a masterpiece. To each their own tho.
@Lady_FanAccount I've really come around on Smashing Pumpkins. Sure, I liked them when I was growing up but I preferred Nirvana.
But these days, I listen to the song Mayonnaise more than any track from any grunge era band. It rules. They rule.
@ubuto23@stereogum@TURNSTILEHC I also like listening to Aphex Twin, Bach, Phillip Glass, Lana Del Rey, The Beach Boys, Waylon Jennings, Ralph Stanley... I could go on and on. I just like music.
You seem to have a bone to pick with the younger generation in general. Maybe it's political. Sonically, this rules
@ubuto23@stereogum@TURNSTILEHC Turnstile rules and this looks awesome.
Signed, a 90s kid who loves Smashing Pumpkins, Ween, Jane's Addiction, Nirvana, and especially Fugazi, who played a legendary show at the same site 25+ years ago.
If you're not feeling it, that's fine, but you're doing too much.
@Shrappy71@onlynateatkins@TheCinesthetic Season 3 actually rules. I have no idea why nobody talks about it.
Most agree that Season 2 and 4 were garbage. I've heard some people defend 2... but nobody ever mentions 3 and it rules.
@onlynateatkins@TheCinesthetic It's funny you said True Detective Season 1 for "underrated gems." EVERYONE knows Season 1 rules.
What people often fail to admit, is that Season 3 with Mahershala Ali is peak TV and was overlooked because Season 2 is such a mess. Season 3 fits the original post's question.
@jeterthejedi@calroseee There are only 3 good films in this lineup. The Invite was fantastic. You Can See Everything is cool. The Debut was cool. Expecting Dune 3 to blow the roof off.
Bigger question, where is Fjord?
@modernhistory so many great ones. It's not even his "best" film but I always think of Django. He's pitch perfect.
I also really love him in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
