Acorn: TY @AcornHaiku 💐
chorus frogs
a boy's fingernail
strums his comb
weathered oars
we fold our worries
into the river
prairie heatwave
a kestrel's wing fans
the grass
a camouflaged burrow the creature within me
season's end a loon stirs sunset into the lake

“To be influenced by somebody is not to write like him or her; rather, someone’s work suddenly opens up new possibilities that you never thought of before.”

there's a kind of writerly trap in thinking "be specific" = "be elaborately detailed" when often it means to sharpen/deepen. more detail won't help if it's superfluous. one revealing detail can say it all. further descriptiveness won't help if what's needed is insight or truth
