AI agents are already at work on business endpoints. Acronis Threat Research Unit observed some form of AI agent tool on 9.4% of Windows computers with Acronis EDR enabled between June and September 2026. Around seven in 10 of those machines were running graphical applications rather than command-line tools.

The findings show that agentic AI has moved beyond developer terminals, raising an important question for MSPs and SMBs: Which systems and data can these tools access?

Acronis appoints Gerald Caron as Chief Information Security Officer.

Gerald brings more than 20 years of cybersecurity and IT leadership across government and the private sector. He will lead Acronis' global security strategy and operations, working closely with R&D to strengthen security throughout the product lifecycle and drive a consistent approach to security, compliance and resilience across the organization.
