@Truth_in_Number@MaryMarykf61@warDaniel47 The UK provides separate totals for COVID deaths for the unvaxxed (zero dose), partially vaxxed & fully vaxxed. Is there a publicly available CDC data set that breaks out COVID deaths in the same manner, including a tally for just unvaxxed (zero dose) deaths?
Thanks for the table. The unvaxxed share appears to include both unvaxxed & partially vaxxed. Do you have figures for just unvaxxed? UK data for June-October 2021 shows that 75% of COVID decedents had received at least one COVID vaccine. (Data deaths 2021-2023, Table 5). https://t.co/qlkiPcPUcZ
@Truth_in_Number@MaryMarykf61@warDaniel47 There was reasonable COVID vaccine coverage by early March 2021 - 25% of adults & 60% of the most vulnerable 65+yrs. Almost no children have died of COVID so the adult vaxxed share is a better targeted measure to use when looking at COVID deaths than the population vaxxed share.
At last week's VRBPAC mtg, the CDC said they couldn't yet estimate VE for the 2025-26 COVID vaccine in children due to low vax coverage & lower rates of disease.
If too few kids are getting sick from COVID to estimate VE, why are we still vaccinating children for COVID?
@Truth_in_Number@MaryMarykf61@warDaniel47 By early March 2021, more than 60% of adults 65+years had received a COVID vaccine & 25% of adults 18yrs+. By May 2021, those shares had climbed to 80% for 65+yrs and 60% for 18+yrs.
@Truth_in_Number@MaryMarykf61@warDaniel47 Vaccines came out as the winter 2020-2021 COVID peak was receding. However, COVID deaths rose again in H2-2021 despite the vaccines. It was only after the milder Omicron strain became dominant that COVID deaths fell on a sustained basis.
COVID deaths are at record lows this season as vax rates fell. 70% of deaths were 75yrs & older, <0.5% children (26 deaths).
While every death is tragic, how can the CDC justify COVID vaccinations for all children when there is so little risk of severe outcomes for kids? 1/2
@PRider1980@LionintheSenate@Rick_Burgess@8MoonBeams@joeroganhq By July 2021, roughly 70% of adults (and 90% of 65yrs+) had received a COVID vaccine. And yet, COVID deaths remained high throughout 2021 despite the vaccine. COVID deaths only fell after the milder Omicron strain became dominant.
@PRider1980@jimiuorio@jll3sonex2 COVID symptoms are defined broadly. If a decedent had symptoms listed below and a COVID+ test, certifiers could not be sure if COVID was driving the symptoms or not & so could note COVID as a contributing cause of death even when it may not have been determinative.
@PRider1980@luigis_de@Timcast Thanks. Is there a public database or press release which notes the numbers/share of COVID death certificates where COVID was probable? Either a one-off release or a time series of this data?
@PRider1980@luigis_de@Timcast Was that disclosure in mid-2021? What was the probable COVID death share prior to that? Presumably that share was higher in 2020 than it was in 2021.
@luigis_de@PRider1980@Timcast The CDC allowed COVID to be listed on death certificates as probable or presumed without test results. PaleRider, what fraction of COVID death certificates in the first half of 2020 listed COVID as probable or presumed? https://t.co/LhBhLpzsMS
@HelenBranswell Most kids are not vaxxed for flu. State vaccine data shows roughly 20% of kids took a 2025-26 flu shot, similar to the vaxxed share of pediatric flu deaths. Michigan is just one example.
@jeffreytucker The CDC used to admit this for "common human coronaviruses". https://t.co/hi235WxGo5 But they removed that acknowledgement in late 2024. https://t.co/lPty22PNPF
@DrJMarine@jeffreytucker@AnilMakam In early 2022, the WHO noted that Omicron was causing less severe disease because it targets the upper respiratory tract more than earlier strains. But that didn't fit with the prior CDC's preferred narrative... https://t.co/vsEDjroBjB
CDCβs study on VE for the 2025-26 COVID vaccine has a flawed design which inflates its findings.
Even so, the CDC was still unable to calculate VE for kids & adults <65 yrs & couldnβt provide VE for critical illness for any age given low levels of COVID illness & vaccination.
