Action 11/8: If you’re devastated by the election results for yourself, for your children’s future, for your trans friends and for your immigrant friends, as I am, start with what you can change: yourself. Your action plan is here: https://t.co/16MqYPLrC2

Action 9/25: Write to the City Planning Commission at [email protected]: “Re case number CPC-2023-7068-CA, please revise the CHIP ordinance to include single family zones. Currently LA can’t build affordable housing in 72% of the city.”
If affordable housing is banned in 72% of residential areas in the City, how can we effectively address homelessness or housing affordability?
Most affordable housing is being built in working-class neighborhoods of color because of zoning restrictions: e.g. single-family zones.
Action 9/6: It’ll be 104 degrees today and a classroom at Dorris Place Elementary in Elysian Valley does not have working A/C despite requesting a repair months ago. Email LAUSD superintendent Alberto Carvalho at [email protected]: “Dorris Pl Elementary needs A/C now!”
Action 6/13: Tell LA City Council to pass a resolution for a ceasefire in Gaza! Use MPower Action’s easy tool to contact your councilmember and the mayor and urge them to pass the ceasefire motion introduced by CMs Raman and Hernandez. https://t.co/VvfIqsDy7S
Action 4/16: USC chose Asna Tabassum as valedictorian this year then barred her from making a speech citing “safety” reasons due to her opposition to Israel’s genocide of the Palestinian people. Use CAIR LA’s tool to urge USC to reverse this decision. https://t.co/zjF5DVv8aA
Sign our LA chapter's action alert calling on @USC reinstate the graduation speech of Class of 2024 valedictorian Asna Tabassum, which the school cancelled in response to dishonest attacks and harassment from anti-Muslim and anti-Palestinian bigots: https://t.co/AxJtCiIvbK
Action 4/3: Tell Metro to keep giving LA kids and community college students free transit. Use @MoveLATransit’s email tool to urge Metro to make its fare-free GoPass program permanent. https://t.co/dTSX4VFtcr
🚨Let's make fare-free student transit in LA County a reality!
The Metro GoPass – the anywhere, anytime Student Transit Pass program – needs to be permanent. 👩🎓🚌
We need you to ask the Metro Board to vote for it. 📨 them now!

@gspeng Where a bad Dem (esp an oil & gas Dem) is running against a bad Republican in the state legislature, I think it’s good to take a pass. Dems have a supermajority and should run better candidates. I do advocate mitigating harm in congressional races bc we can’t afford to lose seats
Action 2/6: Get ready to vote in the March 5 California primary election with the ActionCali progressive voter guide for Los Angeles County! Scroll to the bottom for other excellent voter guides to consult. #LAvotes#voterguide https://t.co/AIE9iUId2l
@gspeng Where someone is running unopposed, I think it’s important not to vote (unless you really like the candidate). It’s meaningful to say X person won with only 7k votes vs 20k votes. Elections should be competitive.
Action 2/4/24: Email Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas at [email protected]: “Rescind the appointment of Bob Tiffany to the California Transportation Commission. Someone with a highway expansion agenda will undermine California’s stated climate goals.”
Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas will appoint a Ford dealership owner and champion of freeway expansion to the California Transportation Commission: https://t.co/jRMiPxjGu6
Action 12/18: Sign @bikinginla’s petition calling on Mayor Karen Bass to hold a public forum on our city’s escalating traffic violence. While pedestrians and cyclists continue to die on our streets, the city does nothing but prioritize cars. https://t.co/zUWq8udvpE
If you live, work, walk or ride in Los Angeles, sign the petition to demand that @MayorOfLA Karen Bass hold a public forum to listen to the dangers we face on the streets, and the city's ongoing failure to act. Stop the carnage! Sign now! https://t.co/OuSPKsbAJR
Action 12/14: Since our reps in DC are ignoring their constituents, let’s contact our local reps. Use the email tool to urge your state senator, state assemblymember, and the governor to call for an immediate ceasefire and the release of all hostages. https://t.co/ULXN5JH9vC
Action 12/11: After reporters across the world signed a letter condemning Israel’s media blockade and bombing of Gaza, the LA Times banned its staffers from covering the conflict for 3 months. Use CAIR LA’s tool to tell the LAT to reverse its decision. https://t.co/z1YuIzCgrU
Action: 10/30/23 — Email [email protected] (subject: rent freeze) and tell him to vote yes to extend the rent freeze on Wednesday. If the motion fails, a planned 7–9% rent increase will go through in a city already devastated by high housing costs.
Contact @BobBlumenfield to tell him to EXTEND THE RENT FREEZE!
On Weds, Housing & Homelessness committee votes on a motion to extend the rent freeze by 6 months.
If it fails, tenants will get huge rent increases on February 1.
More info: https://t.co/3cSXBaHsj7
Action 9/18: A year ago LA City Council got busted conspiring to rig district maps to hurt renters. Now Council wants to delay fair maps till 2032. Use @LosAngelesFwd’s tool to tell them you want independent redistricting and smaller council districts now. https://t.co/lg16fm88np
LA has been clear: We want independent redistricting; smaller council sizes; and we want them NOW.
Despite MONTHS of hearings, community convenings, and polling, council is saying it wants to wait 9 years for reform. NO! Tell them you want FAIR MAPS NOW.
https://t.co/6KjfsN7Nc8
Action 8/22: Look up your field deputy in your councilmember’s office and email them (subject: ethics): "Why did my councilmember undemocratically tank a vote on ethics commissioner candidate Jamie York without any public comment or transparency?" https://t.co/BAPX6GF4DG
Action 8/18: Sign the petition in support of greening our public schools. LAUSD is about to spend $300 million to repave 30 schools when it could instead spend that money on green, shady play areas for 100 schools. Plant trees, not pavement. https://t.co/T950i5HV2z
Action 8/7: Sign the petition from Roller Skaters United in support of free outdoor rinks for roller skaters. LA is park-poor and needs more public space of all kinds. San Francisco and New York have beautiful outdoor rinks. Why doesn’t LA? https://t.co/7qjSNgYBSs
