📢Join the National Housing Demonstration 📢
📅THIS Saturday 18th April, 1pm
📍Soho Square Gardens, Central London

🔔Tomorrow join the demo for real solutions to the housing crisis:
Rent controls & public housing!💪💪
📈Soaring rents & unaffordable homes are a political choice to squeeze our cash into the pockets of the rich & we’re told to blame migrants.
We’re NOT BUYING IT anymore!
"This government is in the pockets of developers."
Last night on @novaramedia, LRU's Joe talked about how the government is failing renters and why we're taking action tomorrow to demand the alternative.
Tomorrow 18 April, 1pm. Soho Sq. Be a part of it!
Only a rigged housing system allows a landlord to more than double the rent overnight.
This is why we're fighting for rent control. This is why we're taking action on Saturday 18. Be there.
Our landlord @LQHomesMatter says "Our residents' safety is our top priority"
REALITY CHECK:
We had a balcony fire in 2020.
We've never seen L&Q on site.
They don't respond to email.
We get our updates from private leaseholders on WhatsApp.
Is this acceptable @mtpennycook?
📣📣It's going to be a big one❗

SHAC Article: Missing Information and the Service Charge Maze
How service charges spiralled and one email built a residents’ association.

David has exceptional evidence of service charge abuse by Peabody Housing but his experience is all too common. £500k of "missing" invoices, but Peabody and the like continue to enjoy government protections.
#EndServiceChargeAbuse
@EmmaLewell ❌ Leasehold abolished
❌ Enfranchisement for mixed tenure blocks
❌ Shared ownership reform
🤑 Uncapped service charges
💰 5% deposits to prop up collapsing market
✅ Ground rent locked in for 40 years
↩️ Another manifesto u-turn.
BREAKING: Andrew Milne has been arrested.
From @syptweet: "Detectives investigating allegations linked to the purchase and sale of freeholds in Sheffield have arrested a man on suspicion of fraud and blackmail."
Thousands of shared owners are trapped in potentially unsafe blocks, facing escalating costs they cannot afford and unable to sell or even remortgage. They are left in limbo, with little to no meaningful support from their housing associations.
This demo is for anyone who recognises that the housing sector isn't working for most of us. We need the politicians to listen! https://t.co/t5XBeaPjjj
Calling all fire safety campaigners, claddiators and leaseholders. There will be a National Housing Demo on *Saturday 18 April, Soho Square Gardens, 1pm* . You are invited to join the Homes for All Bloc or the Planning Bloc, or any Bloc you like!
As a London renters member I shall be there. I was at the @homes4alluk Demo back in 2016 and at the time I was in temporary accommodation, but nearly 10 yrs later and I’m in a council property with housing issues still. Let’s make this the biggest housing protest the uk has seen.
WEMBLEY MATTERS:
Building the movement for rent controls: Tuesday April 7th 6.30pm at Ashford Place. Surely one of the biggest issues in the local elections in Brent. @LDNRentersUnion https://t.co/5jDezLwiVN
That isn’t what our party promised Emma, we promised to end the feudal leasehold system.
The cost of living crisis for leaseholders ends only when leasehold ends.
Rowing back on our manifesto pledge is not acceptable & leaseholders are already seeing through this spin.
The current bill is the equivalent of leaving the postmasters in jail on their false charges, while banning future convictions.
The reward for campaigners and leaseholders is to be left behind, while those buying new commonhold homes benefit from their campaigning - it’s incredibly unjust.
