“Heart disease starts young - improving teenager health is essential” - a piece we wrote for the @ConversationUK 🙌🏻

Deprivation, physical activity, breastfeeding and birth order play a role in the heart health of teens...

What predicts teenage heart health?

❤️ Deprivation
❤️ Physical activity
❤️ Breastfeeding
❤️ Birth order

I may be biased but we need teens to move. This is an aspect of heart health they can control. But we need to ensure we’re providing what they need.

If physical activity were a drug, we would refer to it as a miracle cure.

Today, the UK CMOs have published new guidelines for physical activity at every age. Some is good, more is better #CMOphysicalactivity https://t.co/WTTsBDqOwr

Forest or classroom...?

Today’s video from @wef is a fantastic summary of research into the benefits of outdoor learning

[#TheActivityEffect @ActivityEffect]

Latest @YouthSportTrust survey shows: 1) teens are not active & 2) they want more choice of unstructured activity

This reflects findings from the @ActiveProject_ where choice was 1/6 recommendations made by teens and unstructured activity was most accessed

We need to listen!!

Big steps in Swansea with a new skatepark proposed, however progress is still so slow in making this happen.

This is exactly what our work says young people need. Fun, social and unstructured spaces to play! Let’s make it happen 🛹
