@DrawNear_@Stephen_Angliss I haven’t gone far enough in yet to know if it’s kid friendly. Having seen him on YouTube I can’t imagine it’s objectionable (he’s an Anglican priest), but I couldn’t say with certainty.
He talks a lot about Tolkien on his own YouTube channel, you might like him.
@CherylSchatz Or maybe I should say it like God might change His mind on carrying out judgment or the exact course of a plan, but doesn’t change His beliefs, what He holds as true today will be true tomorrow.
@CherylSchatz I believe God doesn’t change His mind as in He’s not fickle & holds one opinion today but is convinced otherwise & holds a different opinion tomorrow.
He certainly relents & may withhold judgment for example, but He doesn’t change His mind that Israel is guilty in Ex32.
Just as Isaiah promised vindication & protection for those who seek & trust the Servant, Paul assures us that God will complete His saving work in all who respond. The assurance of Rom 8:28-30 is cemented in both God's initiative & the genuine human response Isaiah calls for.

Some thoughts on OT context in Romans 8:28-31.
Compare Isaiah's Servant Songs (the genuine invitations that expect a human response) & Paul's reference to them in Romans 8:31.
This makes a bit of difference when reading Romans 8:28-30.

"What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?"
Compare this (Rom 8:31) to Isaiah 50:8-9.
He is showing that the entire chain is God's faithful purpose for those who respond to the Servant (Christ) in faith.

I wish I could capture this scent. It’s just the field grass, the buttercups (yellow) and chickweed (white) don’t have an aroma. They’re pretty though.
I probably could have finished cutting the grass today if I didn’t get so distracted. Oh well.
@rootcausesleuth@amolinguas Limited atonement, as in particular redemption. Satan would love it if people could be convinced they may have been purposely left out with no hope of Salvation.
@CherylSchatz I hate referring to myself as a non-Calvinist, but on X the need presents itself often enough. Out of charity I resist referring to myself as a Christian to contrast with Calvinists… I think I’d ruffle feathers even more if I said I was a Biblical Christian, not a Calvinist…
@rootcausesleuth@12000ak Yeah that could be a great option to kindle an interest in reading!
(Masterclass pun totally intended)
But it’s only 24 pages (and $4) and I think that genre would be of interest to him.
I asked a coworker (28) if he’s read anything good recently. His response was “What do you mean? Like a chapter book?”
He told me he doesn’t read.
So now I’m on the hunt for a short, easy to read, entertaining book I can convince him to try.
Men need to read.
@rootcausesleuth He’s not Christian.
I don’t work with him all that often. I’m lead tech in an HVACR mechanical company and he’s a helper in the install division. He’s a nice guy but I see a lot of wasted potential in his work and personal life.
