Today's Sebi board decision creates a whole new PMS ecosystem. How?
Existing PMSes can now invest in foreign securities under both discretionary and non-discretionary PMS. This is still bound by LRS and TCS, so you don't get to buy foreign ETFs in INR. The PMS just becomes a wrapper.
A 'platform' PMS can now host 'independent fund managers' or IFMs. The platform handles compliance and carries the liability. The IFM runs its own strategy on the platform's licence. The IFM must still meet the qualifications of a PMS principal officer.
Sebi has cut the minimum ticket size to Rs 25 lakh for a mutual fund only PMS, called PRIM. Couple this with IFMs and I suspect a lot of MFDs will tie up with platform PMSes and build their own 'sub-PMSes' of direct plans.
Many ifs and buts which only the detailed regulations will settle. Eg: PRIM already requires MFD and PRIM clients to be segregated, except accredited investors. Does that extend to an MFD running a PRIM as an IFM on someone else's licence?

If you haven't started your global investing journey yet, watch this video. We're doing a meet-up in Delhi this Sunday at the India Habitat Centre to discuss this further. I'll drop the link in the replies.
@ActusDei Most of my client complained about forceful purchase of Insurance when they went for loan and also who has good Fixed Deposit they were asked to open a new policy by Bank Manager.
Irdai says insurers spent the 2023 reform paying distributors more, not pricing policies cheaper. The numbers, FY23 to FY25:
Distributor pay grew 4 to 5 times faster than gross premium. Banks and corporate agents brought in 24-28% of new business and took 38-45% of the extra commissions.
Some payments were labelled advertising, infrastructure or marketing fees to get around commission limits.
Irdai links high upfront commissions to policy churn and misselling.
The proposal: cut the expense cap for general insurers from 30% to 20% of premium over five years, and to 10% for life insurers.
Global investing. A home loan. The right credit card.
Three very different financial decisions. One place to get guidance on all of them.
That’s how one of our clients has been using Thefynprint Concierge Plus.
Here’s what they had to say 👇
“I’ve been using Thefynprint Concierge Plus for a while, and I’ve found it genuinely useful. I’ve taken guidance on global investments, a home loan, and even choosing the right credit card.
What I liked was that I could discuss different financial needs with someone who understood my requirements, instead of figuring everything out on my own. Having access to these services through one membership made things much more convenient.
For me, the biggest value has been having reliable guidance whenever I’ve needed to make an important financial decision."

Yesterday, we received two very different customer experiences.
Together, they reminded us why we started FinRight.
Proshanto’s case was one we could not resolve.
He had almost given up on recovering his PF, and despite our efforts, the case reached a point where the outcome was beyond our control because of the complexity of the process.
What stayed with us was his response.
He appreciated the effort, the transparency, and the fact that we were honest about what we could and could not do. He even chose to share his experience publicly.
We don’t shy away from cases like this. Our promise is simple: if we cannot deliver what we committed to, we refund the full amount.
Then there was Vadivel.
His PF history had been complicated for more than 7 years. Multiple UANs, stuck transfers, EPS issues and accounts that needed to be consolidated.
After around 1.5 months of persistent work, the issues were finally untangled.
And yesterday, the money reached his bank account.
Two completely different outcomes on the same day.
One reminded us that persistence does not always guarantee a resolution.
The other reminded us why persistence matters.
What we promise our customers is straightforward: we will explore every possible route, follow up consistently, and communicate honestly throughout the process.
Some cases are resolved quickly.
Some take months.
And sometimes, despite every possible effort, the final outcome may still not be in our hands.
We’re fortunate to have a team that continues to show up and do the difficult work behind the scenes.
And to everyone who trusts us with something as important as their hard-earned PF, thank you.
Global investing sounds simple: “I want international exposure.”
Then come the real questions.
ETF or UCITS? Which route makes sense? What about taxes and costs? And most importantly, how much of your portfolio should actually go global?
That’s what we’re discussing at Thefynprint × LGT Wealth Global Investing Delhi Meetup, an in-person conversation with Neil Borate, Co-Founder, Thefynprint, and Nikhil Advani, Managing Director, LGT Wealth.
Bring your questions. This isn’t a lecture. It’s a chance to discuss global investing, portfolio allocation and the different routes available to Indian investors.
