You see one pattern I have noticed about this Profession is that it's actually the supposed 'Big Men, Silks and the Politically connected' who have access to the clients and the biggest briefs that pay the least (I'm saying this from personal experience BTW)
It's a different thing to work with a Principal who's 'struggling' but making conscious efforts to make things better. He makes you understand that he's doing his best and things will get better. He/She gives you the oportunity to take personal briefs, He/She dashes money once in a while when unexpected alerts or big briefs come in, you can decide to be an 'Understanding employee' and stay with him/her.
But how do we explain working in a firm where you have access to the invoices sent out, you see the emails containing the bills charged, you see the caliber of clients that come to the office, you attend some of these meetings with your Ọga, and you listen to the sums being mentioned, But ọga pays you 85k, with a strict policy of 'You cannot leave the Office until Ọga leaves, you cannot take private briefs, and other things incidental thereto.
You see the Schools Oga's children attend, and your one year salary isn't even enough to pay for a term, yet Oga expects you to put your blood on the line for him 😂🤣
Two years ago and a week to my final law exams,my life changed completely. I was in a car that summersaulted 3 times and a street light fell on my neck and back. How I survived and pulled everyone out of the wreckage leaking petrol still defies my understanding. Sibe Oluwa dara
