Two men recruited by #Iran found guilty of stabbing TV presenter on #London street
- Nandor Badea (21) and George Stana (25), citizens of #Romania, were found guilty of wounding with intent after stabbing Iran International opposition TV presenter Pouria Zeraati outside his Wimbledon home.
- The case highlights Iran’s use of criminal proxies on #UK soil. The men received significant payments as part of the plot and carried out prior reconnaissance on the target.
- They flew in from Romania and spent weeks surveilling Zeraati who survived the attack but described the assault as terrifying.
- Zeraati had appeared, along with other journalists, on "Wanted: dead or alive" posters that were put up in the Iranian capital Tehran.
- The third attacker, David Andrei (22) could not be extradited as he faces proceedings in Romania.
- This is one of several recent cases of Iranian state-linked violence on British soil.
