it's great that the Met Gala charity event raised 42 mil vs. 31 mil last year. It's great that the wealth and billionaires of our generation are sponsoring museums and the arts.
It's also great that Tech is at events like this, because the arts will then influence (or at least be connected to) companies like Amazon/OpenAI.
But it also makes a lot of sense that people are experiencing a dissonance at tech being involved in this part of society.
For a very long time, Big Tech culture has projected that it didn't care about frivolities like fashion, high society, or opulence, and I think this consistent reinforcement by *grind culture* has led to an image dissonance where people are shocked by them *suddenly* and rapidly expecting to be involved.
there's such a massive image issue to believe that the grey hoodie bro would step out and want to dress in couture for anything other than object status/wealth and pursuit of wealth as a goal is horrendous to people.
There's a great perversion when the hoodie bro who says they've become a billionaire is not in pursuit of wealth but in pursuit of *creating a social network* *creating an autonomous agent* regardless of the tributes of material goods.
and the art hoe who believes they adore the arts, the culture, and the costume, disregarding the obvious splendor the event creates and believing the *glamour is a byproduct*
they both feel profoundly perverted and misunderstood.
The transactionality of your culture being consumed for it's byproducts makes both parties feel like their intentions are misread.
but this is kinda how culture is made, the reason why the hoodie bro postured that they didn't care about wealth is that their wealth was nascent and fresh and raw and once it needs to be established into society, much like the dollar princess into the rungs of high society it mearly needs to be bought in, clumsily until it walks naturaly.
The met gala was called the Tech Gala this year
here’s why they’re right:
jeff bezos: honorary co-chair. $10 million personal contribution
amazon, meta, openai, snapchat: all bought tables at $350,000 each
tickets: $100,000. record $42 million raised
and a humanoid robot walked the red carpet as alexander wang’s official guest
first robot in met gala history
delivered drinks to guests (mine would spill my drinks all the time)
the met gala used to be sponsored by gucci and chanel
now it’s bezos and openai.
tech CEOs are the NEW celebrities
and they’re buying their way into every cultural institution to prove it
technology isn’t just sponsoring culture anymore
it IS culture.
@anabology Has this been compared against other things? Also where is application done?
What is the process for what it’s influencing this, just vasodialution or smth else?
I’ve been feeling pretty demotivated by the inevitability of algorithmic suppression/acct deletion so I will probably start posting almost all clad photos on here.
@AdaHopperSF I don't know who the hell you are but if I discovered that I had lost you to the kingdom of Troy, I would send thousands of ships with the sole purpose of receiving you.
@RayPeatHeadShop But is there a literally store or link you recommend? It seems like a lot of the links online claiming authentic progesterone seem rlly sketchy. And then the synthetic or plant derived one seems soyboy
