Pointing out bad ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) takes. Or good ones. Or really anything that amuses me. DMs or mentions welcome. QT means good take.
@BadHippa @pretty_basicly @iamharaldur@elonmusk For clarity: IANAL and I don't know if it's an actual violation given Halli is Icelandic; but holy crap is it a bad look for EM.
Plus I have a "can't type for long stretches but still use twitter" disability, so EM ridiculing that is just... well, ridiculous.
@BadHippa @pretty_basicly @iamharaldur@elonmusk Not just that, but disclosing disability info ... not a hippo, obviously, but it's an ADA double strike.
(I drifted away when the muskrat took over but this brought me back... didn't expect my changed display name to become literal!)
There is a WaPo story about a guy and his "emotional support alligator". https://t.co/oNwX0JAGoT
ESAs do not have ADA-protected public access, and the "registration" is a useless waste of money. @washingtonpost should do better than propogate this nonsense.
Please stop telling disabled people about the ADA in response to tweets about discrimination. We know what the ADA is and what it does. We also know the barriers to filing a complaint. (This means we know at least one more thing about the ADA than you do.)
This whole thing is absurd, but especially the "if they don't like it they can move", because it's so easy to just relocate, especially if you're disabled.
If libertarians hate being in a society so much, why don't *they* move? The world will never know...
@mdunndata@BadNuremburg@HawkInATX So your solution is to put all The Disableds in one area -- a camp, perhaps, where they can be concentrated? Even though accessibility features are helpful to non-disabled folk too? (https://t.co/xaKlrTkamd)
@BadNuremburg@mdunndata@HawkInATX Oh good grief.
It reminds me of a joke I heard once, from a guy in a wheelchair, where a business owner didn't want to put in a ramp -- "why should I, when people in wheelchairs don't even come here?"
@BadHippa I'm semi surprised ADA isn't in there. Antivax and antimask ppl have claimed it, why not antipronouners?
Also very amused that Rod has apparently violated all these things -- he used pronouns for his wife, after all.
this story is probably going to get some traction as evidence of ~america gone soft~ or some bullshit but itβs 100% a disability rights story. he was fired because his supervisor decided two panic attacks meant this employee posed a violent threat https://t.co/wqGXUBJYNK
Here's a new one: being "mean" on Twitter violates the ADA.
Context: A Black woman with endometriosis mentioned how it's underdiagnosed in Black and Brown communities. TGS all-lives-mattered this (1st image). When called out, TGS doubled down...
Can I bite through a titanium wheelchair? Yes.
Will I bite through your titanium wheelchair? As an ADA compliant theropod, I'm sure I can find a small child to chew on instead.
