There’s no way that the refs applied the rules correctly here. Running out the clock, delay of game, then they ran 10 seconds off and ran the clock on ready for play. There’s no way that’s the rule. @NFLOfficiating

I just re-watched the entire 6:05 episode of utter clock mis-management by Aaron Glenn and the Jets at the end of reg vs. the Packers. I've clipped the most relevant 2:19 of it, where not once - even tangentially! - do the Fox announcers (Kenny Albert and Jonathan Vilma) take the necessary sledgehammer to Glenn over what he did not do!

Some coaches, just won't ever get it (Glenn is one). But at least the announcers should be aware of BASIC strategy!

Having stopped the Packers into a 4th and 5 at the +45 with 1:02 left, the Jets ABSOLUTELY should have "dropped anchor" on the clock with one of their TWO timeouts left.

Whether the Pack punted, or went for it, EITHER WAY, you want MORE TIME no matter what. If the Pack went for it, and failed, they are in deep shit. You have just 25 yards to go and a timeout with a MINUTE LEFT for a GWFG.

Even with a punt, it might be a touchback, or Isiah Williams - who took two punts back for TD's last year - might just go electric factory.

After the game, Aaron Glenn decided to stand on stupid, and defended the "strategy" which allowed the Packers to both bleed out all of the clock AND get a shot at a hail mary (tho the Jets blitzed it and snuffed it, so they did ONE thing right!)

Said Glenn: "I think they could have punted the ball and put us in a backed-up situation right there. So that was the reason."

I mean... what?

Anyhow, it amazes me that every NFL team doesn't have a dedicated "Tactics Coordinator" who can help overwhelmed coaches with this stuff. Or in the case of the Jets, maybe Aaron Glenn just doesn't listen to those nerds anyway.

I know this... Aaron Glenn is also content to stare through rain soaked glasses, instead of put on a fucking hat. So I guess that kinda sums his vibe up right there.

I get that they had to change the rule about handballs leading up to a goal but now it's gone too far the other way. Players are intentionally using their hands in the box and it doesn't get called off because it was the guy before the goal scorer (Man City's 3rd)
