Feels great to have this one out there with open access via @PLOSONE - novel insight for biomechanists, coaches, athletes and anyone interested in #strength#training ... To be continued...
🚨New paper🚨
A comprehensive biomechanical analysis of the barbell hip thrust 🏋️
with @AdamBrazil91@LaurieJNeedham & @jac_palm via @PLOSONE
To our knowledge, this was the first full joint kinetic analysis of the hip thrust.
Key findings follow 🧵

A not to miss #PhD opportunity for those interested in biomechanics/ physical preparation and the mechanisms underlying performance enhancement. The supervisory team isn't too bad either! @IrwinGareth@LaurieJNeedham@GKRWilliams

@lahti_johan@IanBez Haven’t considered velocity, but knee and hip power is (on average) no greater, with similar extensor moments... so velocity is likely similar between the block phase and a horizontal jump. Some indication of individual strategies and temporal differences - paper in progress!
Our (with @LaurieJNeedham & @AdamBrazil91) paper comparing hip loading in hip thrust, deadlift and back squat, just presented at @ISBS_2018 #ISBS2018
