Our leader is running for parliament in Clacton.
By refusing to stand, the establishment parties have completely failed Clacton. The SDP is stepping up to give Clacton a true choice.
We offer a real, patriotic alternative focused on rebuilding what matters most.
Everyone deserves to feel safe in their neighbourhood.
The SDP supports stronger neighbourhood policing, tougher sentences for repeat offenders, and restoring confidence in our justice system.
Safer streets will come with better governance.
Clouston for Clacton.
Vote SDP.
William Clouston (@WilliamClouston), SDP, is standing to give the people of Clacton full and fair debate. 👇
@UKLabour won't serve Clacton.
@Conservatives won't serve Clacton.
@LibDems won't serve Clacton.
@TheGreenParty won't serve Clacton.
We will.
People argue about what size the state should be, but we ask what it's responsible for.
When you think of it like that, it becomes really simple:
✅ maintain the pitch
❌ don’t play on it
A serious economy needs a competent state: one that keeps the ground in order, the pitch playable and applies the rules fairly.
If you do that, then the people of Britain can play the game their own way. Raising a family. Building a business. Just getting on with your life.
What we’ve had recently is the opposite. We’ve had governments who
• let the pitch turn to mud
• asset-strip the stadium
• try to tell you how to play the game
So it makes perfect sense that some people want less government - they've watched it done badly for decades.
And it makes perfect sense that some people want more government - they've been left trying to play on a bog.
But a state that doesn't know its job - and doesn't do it for good of the nation - will do it badly at any size.
The issue is competency, not size.
. @TiceRichard went on TV and called four parties cowards for not turning up in Clacton.
We turned up.
He also said Nigel wants a debate.
We accept.
@Nigel_Farage - name the date.

This one is a particular bug bear of mine, and I'd saved the article until after Investment State launched.
"Every local politician promises to fix the roads. Most of them genuinely mean it. Almost none of them can."

The average British salary should be £65,000.
It's £34,000.
Fifty years of political failure.
One plan to fix it.
The SDP's Investment State documentary, out now:
"It makes an argument that the mainstream has consistently refused to make: that Britain’s economic failure is not about the size of the state, but about what the state does with its money."
My take on the @SDPhq's newest Green Paper.

Britain needs 6.5 million new homes to match the European average.
At the rate we're currently building, that gap won't close for 40 years.
This isn't bad luck. It's the result of political decisions made over decades.
Read our Green Paper, Investment State, to see how it could be fixed. https://t.co/pGjRW0ft47
Today the SDP publishes 'The Investment State'. It is our latest Green Paper that sets out to make a strong argument for why the United Kingdom is poorer than it should be, and what a government serious about growth would do about it.
We are inviting you to have this conversation with us.

Incentivising technical and vocational training is essential for reindustrialising the UK.
SDP policy would value these courses equally to others (excluding English and maths).
This will give future generations the real skills to rebuild Britain.

On Heretics, Clouston clearly sets out what the SDP is all about. The binary Left–Right system is a thing of the past and fails to capture what the country needs.
The SDP offers clear and pragmatic solutions.

Career politicians claim nuclear isn't viable due to time. If we'd expanded nuclear over the last 20 years in place like Sussex or Essex, we'd be less reliant on foreign energy.
The SDP recognises the need for investment and would build nuclear for our future.
@johnredwood A trade deficit drains domestic currency and completely undermines Modern Monetary Theory. Domestic taxes must increase whilst we leak currency to jurisdictions which we cannot tax currency back out of. Changing that equation should be one of the Government's top priorities.
@anna_p_neumann@afneil Doesn't matter how many nuclear missiles you have or who you claim they will be protecting if you destroy your country through mass immigration.
