In college I did play-by-play for livestreams of a couple Razorback softball games. I remember once they lost to Drake. They went 1-23 in the SEC that year.
Courtney Deifel is incredible
I get that this makes Yurachek looks bad and him fumbling is probably the most likely explanation, but are we 100% sure that he didn’t try to talk to donors before and they tried to call his bluff?
I feel like ADs are always asking for more money, so I’d be surprised if he didn’t at least try
Always think of @StrongTowns when I see this sign at a Fayetteville car wash advertising the fact that a stop light can help you get back on the “stroad” after you’ve washed your car
@Razorsnack Deseg lawsuits and other stuff wiped it out in the 90s, but it has recovered in recent years
Little Rock actually pulls its weight on NFL production, I’d think. NWA + rural areas are where you’re getting nothing
Still searching for a comprehensive explanation for why Arkansas is *that* low, given its peers
Best I've seen is still Houston Nutt's remark that some of the best football players in Arkansas play basketball
Ok, but why is he allowed to play? I get that he didn't sign a two-way deal like Bediako, but he still left college and went to the G-League
Also, there's no way he has any grades at all. Grand Canyon is an institution of higher learning, right?
Keyon Menifield Jr. who played 2 games in the NBA G League in 2024-25 was granted collegiate eligibility for this upcoming season.
He will be playing at Grand Canyon University.
Menifield Jr. graduated from Beecher and played 2 years of college at Arkansas and Washington.
@ValhallaKnox Well, Mississippi has 2.5m people, so that's ~36 NFL players. Arkansas has 4m, so that's ~9 players.
I'm more looking at whiter states like OK, KS, KY, and WV that all have more than Arkansas. MS and LA are a given (and AL and GA)
To be clear because i must’ve worded this badly:
Silverfield’s focus on discipline and culture is good, so this isn’t a criticism of him, just an observation that he’s aware that his team’s talent is lagging
@TheBulhoes I am literally not reading into it any more than that. His phrasing makes me think he's aware this year's team isn't very good. That doesn't mean he's not taking the right approach for the long term
NEW: Arkansas head coach Ryan Silverfield tells @PeteNakos he's ready for the challenge🐗
"I don’t know, when we line up, how we even match up against Utah. I don’t know how we match up with Georgia in our first SEC game from a talent standpoint. So let’s be the best in the country in the controllables. Best in the country in attitude. Best in the country in effort — those things have nothing to do with talent. We’re going to harp on that all the time. Best in the country in how much film we study, and the execution and discipline."

@racerodgers That's not in any way a refutation of what I said
Hint: my post was not criticizing him at all. His focus on discipline is exactly what this program needs
@BillyHogT I think you’re making too much of what *I* said because we don’t even disagree
All I said was that his quotes suggest he’s aware of a serious talent deficiency post-spring. It was not intended as a criticism of him (I meant low bar for 2026 only btw)
@BillyHogT “We have the talent to play with anyone, but to win we have to do the little things we can control.”
Communicates the same message. But he very much did not say that
@btoff49 I'm not complaining at all, the discipline/culture approach is exactly what we need
But I'm not getting much indication that there's a lot of talent on this team
