Albo tells Aussies that Australia, the Nation OUR people founded, created & built is no longer OUR’s.

One Nation’s policy to defund the bloated, taxpayer-funded ABC will save the federal budget at least $1.3 billion a year — and that’s being conservative.

In reality, it could be far more.

Every single asset currently used by the ABC , but owned by Australian taxpayers — buildings, land, fixtures, vehicles, cameras, studios, and production equipment — must be leased back to the ABC at full commercial market rates.

No handouts, no sweetheart deals.

So when this new, non-taxpayer-subsidised ABC starts begging for subscriptions (and yes, I’m sure the “Friends of the ABC” crowd will virtue-signal by handing over their wallets), a huge chunk of that money — can go straight into paying rent on taxpayer-owned assets, further improving the budget bottom line.

In May 1984, while he was still Prime Minister, Bob Hawke addressed the Fabian Society Centenary Dinner in Melbourne. It was the 100th anniversary of the Fabian Society, founded back in London in 1884.
Same year George Orwell’s book came out warning about where top-down control, surveillance, and the slow erosion of freedom could lead.
Hawke spoke about the classic Fabian idea of “the inevitability of gradualness”patient, steady change through institutions rather than sudden revolution. He was celebrating how far that method had already come.
One side was sounding the alarm in 1984. The other was toasting how well the slow permeation of politics, unions and institutions was working.
