@PreK33@Shapiro_WTHS One of the best (but sometimes overlooked) pieces of being a coach is just listening to a teacher's needs/wants/ideas/frustrations. It isn't always about giving the answer; sometimes it is just about listening and hearing what is being said.
@LDunbar10 Simply helping students define the cognitive verbs they will encounter on tests (compare/contrast, analyze, justify, etc.) is a great first step to inquiry in the classroom.
Thank you @Shapiro_WTHS and #teachpos friends for the great chat!

A3 Many classrooms are still being run like they were in the dark ages, with students in rows and teachers doing all the talking. We have come a long way with STEM, PBL, UDL, etc. but it's inconsistent. Try the 80/20 rule. 80% student voice. #noexcuse
@Shapiro_WTHS A3: Promoting a culture of inquiry starts in the classroom. Create authentic learning experiences and place students at the center of the learning experience. #teachpos
@Shapiro_WTHS That is a true statement: everyone in the teacher lunchroom wants to offer a different answer to the question. It can be confusing and sometimes just negative in nature.
@donna_mccance The think-pair-share is a great and simple tool to use in the classroom. Just need to make sure students are giving time to think before pairing with a partner and sharing with the class. #teachpos
@Shapiro_WTHS A1: Sticky notes and a parking lot encourage students to pose questions, and giving students a chance to answer the questions provides great peer tutoring and peer feedback opportunities. #teachpos
"It was a dark and stormy night" has become so ingrained in our literary culture that we rarely give much thought to its origins. https://t.co/oTT4RYv0mk
The Blended Learning @MillCreekCCSD Math Ts nailed it with real-world problem solving to engage and challenge students in the learning process. They redefined (no SAMR pun intended) what high-impact instructional strategies and digital tools can do for learning @CherokeeSchools
Teachers: @canva now offers an online AI image generator. I created this series entitled "kittens in a fancy NYC restaurant." How could you use it for lessons in your classroom?
