@joelmedia18 I agree, Da Mayor's character arc was one of my favorites, and his relationship with Mother Sister changing was interesting. The movie is filled with these techniques that reveal a lot about the plot. The subtly of Mookie yelling "hate" before breaking Sal's window is my favorite
@AgathaMera51021 I also felt the same emotions. I like that you mentioned the music used, the use of Public Enemy's "Fight the Power" was very strong, especially in the final scene. Public Enemy are known for their political themes which reflected the message shown of taking down an institution.
After finishing Do the Right Thing, my immediate feeling was anger. When Radio Raheem was killed by the cops I felt the anger of everyone who destroyed Sal's. The chaos of the shots heightened this. But overall I felt nostalgic and uplifted while watching the film. #Media1801D03
@AhmedNuha373854 I see where you're coming from. However, with business control, we already see a lot of opinions being silenced in favor of propaganda that nets the companies more money. I believe the FCC could stop these practices and that it would work best if free speech isn't compromised.
@Fantadi91445014 I agree with your response, the FCC would ultimately benefit us as consumers. Businesses have a lot more power over the internet and can use it in negative ways. Typically the interest of the user is second to the interest of money. The FCC can provide solutions to these issues.
The FCC regulating the internet can lead to many risks in freedom but ultimately it would be more beneficial. It would promote competition between services to provide better quality and stop businesses from using our data to discriminate among other net positives. #Media1801D03
@joelmedia18 I agree, by using a popular music star in this video whose main demographic is young adults, State Farm is also targeting his same fanbase and demographic. The humor and tradition of red and khaki seen in the ad also work well for the intended audience who grew up with these ads.
@AgathaMera51021 I agree. The visual style of the ad works well to make it enticing and eye-catching to viewers. There is also a lot of thought in showing how exciting the new features will be with the build-up at the start and the fast pace.
This Nike Ad featuring LeBron James from the early 2000s has a target demographic of sports fans. Specifically, young adult basketball fans which is clear from the humor used in the Ad and with LeBron being an NBA player. #Media1801D03

@fgfyxr56xw I disagree. Cable promotes individualism by providing different avenues for people to explore and define their interests and tastes. Broadcast is more connected but there is no room for self-expression. The variety of cable programs lets ppl of different tastes express themselves
@KevinWanderw I feel that with fewer channels, even if there was a more central discussion among a majority of ppl, there was less of a community than cable provides. Having different niches can cause many more passionate communities than a centralized point of discussion that has no interest.
I believe cable has strengthened our sense of community more than anything. Traditional broadcasts may have made everyone watch the same thing. But with a wide variety of programs to consume, different niche demographics can come together to enjoy and discuss them #Media1801D03
@jlin1599 Agreed, I feel the harm outweighs the benefit. Younger generations are especially impressionable and can have their ideas skewed in one side's favor due to what the algorithm favors or whatever is pushed online, even if the mindset is harmful. You begin to adopt ideas w/o knowing
@KevinWanderw I agree with you. Social media has pros and cons in this regard. Algorithms can be very biased and depend on the higher-ups as stated in the documentary we watched. This could create an influence on the opinions of the masses. It also allows for biased misinformation to be spread
Social media is both beneficial and harmful to democracy. It can allow ppl w/ different views from across the world to discuss topics, allowing new ideas to spread further. However, it can also cause ppl to adopt certain views due to the influence posts have on us. #Media1801D03
