@BenSwann_ My garbage collectors are a private company competing with several other garbage collection companies and my firefighters are all volunteers.
@skdh@jeremykauffman You guys have more deaths due to lack of AC than Americans have deaths due to guns… that you try to brow beat us over.
I’d say the comparison is apt
@habibislop@HomerViaDommer@robkhenderson Why get rid of guns? Rural America has European rates of firearm homicides and has a higher gun ownership rate than anywhere in the world.
How can that be?
@HomerViaDommer@robkhenderson So it’s not gun control or the laws… it’s how developed a nation is? That’s the variable that matters in gun access and gun violence outcomes?
Jamaica virtually banned guns in the 1960’s… before that they had European homicide rates.
Way to undercut the gun control argument.
@jumpjettwit@japan_nobunaga@WhyZee_Guy Gun violence in America is *highly* concentrated.
Most of America is just as safe if not safer than most of Europe.
And the places with the most guns per capita often have the lowest firearm homicide rates.
@japan_nobunaga@WhyZee_Guy Hunting guns come in many varieties for different uses. Home defense guns are usually whatever you’re most comfortable with. Most people have a pistol for that… but others will use a shotgun (traditional) and some do use compact rifles. I have both a shotgun and pistol bedside.
@HomerViaDommer@robkhenderson US has a lower firearm homicide rate than Jamaica and Haiti where guns are virtually banned. Mexico has far stricter gun control laws than Europe, Canada or Australia… but a far higher firearm homicide rate than the US.
@ameribritasian@robkhenderson So then what’s the deal with Jamaica, Haiti and Mexico? All with far stricter gun control than Europe, Canada or Australia has come up with
@DaveBondyTV Any excuse to be violent and destructive. It’s why you see so many brawls in waffle houses and teen takeovers, too.
It’s best to just move as far away as logistically possible and avoid anywhere they congregate. They’re itching for an excuse.
@DubaiPoopTrucks@jeremykauffman What are we defending with regards to the poor? Defending lack of work ethic, lack of ambition, lack of skills? Why would we defend or celebrate that? What sort of incentive structure does that defend?
@tanner_roscoe@CatchUpFeed You can’t. They were smuggled in, at least from the US, by leisure/fishing boats up through the 80’s. Although at some point Libya became the better option, when they switched from Armalites to AK47’s and started getting the heavier guns from Gaddafi.
You have to smuggle them.
