People have been indoctrinated regarding death. To say "they live on in your heart" is to say "they will live a brief moment more in time and then you too will die and they will be gone forever but at least you will not remember." What a horrible thing to promote.

Those who do not hold to the existence of God must either face that their life will amount to the exact same in the end as if they had done nothing- or willfully ignore that aspect of reality. Most choose ignore. Which is too bad because acknowledging it would help them know God.
