Instead of trying to replace developers with LLMs, we should be doing our best to make them 10x more productive with better automation for the soul sucking parts of the software development lifecycle 😅
Today is my 40th birthday. Here are all the things that I know at 40 which I wish I knew at 20.
Starting with…
1. Your relationship with others is a direct reflection of your relationship with yourself. If you treat yourself poorly, then you will unconsciously seek out and tolerate others who treat you poorly. If you treat yourself with dignity and respect, then you will only tolerate others who treat you with dignity and respect.
Get right with yourself. Get right with the world.
While being a man, one should retain a certain essential feminine element, and he who does this will become a channel for the whole world. The ideal of the hundred-percent tough guy—the rigid, rugged fellow with muscles like rocks—is really a weakness. Probably we assume this sort of tough exterior as a hard shell to protect ourselves not so much from the outside, as from fear of weakness on the inside. What happens if an engineer builds a completely rigid bridge? If, for example, the Golden Gate or the George Washington bridges didn’t sway in the wind; if they had no give, no yielding? They’d come crashing down. And so you can always be sure that when a man pretends to be a hundred percent man, he’s in doubt of his manhood. If he can allow himself to be weak, he can allow himself what is really the greatest strength—not only of human beings, but of all living things.
@power_r2 Perfect timing! I was jus about to add custom dialog window, and now I don’t have to decide whether to darken or lighten the background. Blur is way sexier!
@jensbyl@power_r2@mattbdevaney @kristinekk94 @lowcodelewis You mean I don’t have to use a HTML text control to render a div with CSS drop shadow styling that I place under other controls. This news made my weekend!
What can I say, I like drop shadows 🤷♂️
@waldekm Completely agree, and more so docs / blogs for the exact same reason. Videos are just not that efficient for me to consume, but totally get their value.
@AnthonyPAlicea Yes! Too often we fixate on a potential solution or technology and not taking enough time to step back and look at the problem separated from the technology. Doing this has often led me down better paths towards solutions.
@julielerman As someone who lives in Kenosha, blocks from the court house, I’m deeply saddened by the outcome and this is no way properly represents my city / state. This happened on public places and he had no business being there and there are consequences for making adult discussions.
@vincenth_net Thanks @vincenth_net for continually promoting this approach. Started using #CSharpForMarkup a couple of weeks ago for a production app and it’s been a delightful transition. Not missing XAML at all. Just need to get hot reload for VS for Mac working.
Great advice I received as a junior developer - never say an idea is bad unless you have a better one. Just saying it's bad and without reason demeans the other person and shows little respect.
Now apply that thought to politicians and political operatives.
#proveIt
@adpedley I just love everything about this. Been moving away from XAML recently and have been falling into a similar reactive-ish style, and I really like how you’ve composed this. Purposely been avoiding Flutter, because I know I’m going to fall in love.
