Good interview here. My question for @enriquecerna: Why does WSU still make the athletic department pay the school for athletic scholarships, which cost 10M+. Simply eliminating tuition costs for athletes would free up millions for revenue sharing. A potential game-changer.
We are joined today by WSU Vice Chair of the Board of Regents @enriquecerna to discuss the university’s view on athletics moving forward.
@BradenTClark also joins us to talk through the upcoming WSU vs Utah State matchup in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.

Sen. Maria Cantwell references Washington State University during the Protect College Sports Act hearing.
“The bottom line is WSU had a $35 million hole blown in their $85 million college budget.”
I don't ~think~ this had been made public, or at least acknowledged this publicly, but Sen. Cantwell said Washington State went from "instead of having a $35 million media budget, has a $10 or 12 million media budget.
Notable re: the Pac-12's recent media deal.
If media rights are pooled, the bill is written to encourage conferences to return to more regional competition and, eventually, says Maria Cantwell, the hope is for leagues to return to their previous, regional makeup.
Cantwell: “Regionalism feeds a lot of sports viewership.”
Exclusive to @YahooSports: Sens. Ted Cruz & Maria Cantwell detail their groundbreaking legislation:
*1X transfer
*5-yr eligibility/pro player ban
*hard cap
*5% max agent fee
*"Lane Kiffin Rule"
*optional pooling of TV rights
*prohibits "super league"

.@Jon_Haarlow at the concession stands at football games this year there should be an option to round up to the nearest dollar to support NIL. Lots of little transactions could add up! #GoCougs
✅ NEW @YahooSports: Over the weekend, SGA fell on shot attempts more than Brunson, Harden, Mitchell and Wemby combined.
Why does he do it so often? Probably because it works. I tracked how often he gets a foul call when he falls compared to his peers: https://t.co/YCMXwaroKd
Washington State will now have a more recent NCAA Baseball Tournament appearance than:
Utah (2016)
Washington (2018)
Cal (2019)
Stanford (2023)
Arizona (2025)
BALL GAME! COUGS WIN! COUGS ADVANCE!
Nick Lewis does it again, 8.2 innings with a career high 11 strikeouts and Gavin Roy homers as the Cougs beat Air Force at the Mountain West Tournament!

College athletics is so crazy now.
Cal baseball, a team located on the Pacific coast but somehow in the ACC, flew to Charlotte, North Carolina for a single-elimination conference tournament game against Stanford… a school 90 minutes from their campus.
They traveled 2,715 miles across the country to play a regional rival, lost one game, then had to hop on a 5.5-hour flight back to California 😂
If you really wanted Castillo to get his work in you could have just had him a throw a few simulated innings in the bullpen after Munoz closed out the win.
