@IndoPilot Me too, still grateful for that! Hard to believe it was 10yrs ago. Life's changed a lot since then.
Glad to read in the closing pages that the new job is so enjoyable, it can't be easy finding something as fulfilling as Papua. If you ever need someone to carry your bags...
@IndoPilot I wanted to say how much I enjoyed Flying From Shangri-La. An excellent read, and so much about it beggars belief.
I must rewatch the TV series, albeit now with a slightly different perspective.
@FlightPolish@RAFMUSEUM An example from abroad.
I'm unsure what, if anything, was displayed here before, but a swathe of the RCAF Museum's (very limited) indoor space is given over to a Covid mask on a plynth, kept safe under perspex.
The museum charges $12 admission. It wasn't busy.
And here we are: the #1 spot.
1. John Romain, Spitfire XIV, Shuttleworth Family Airshow.
I think this may have been the best warbird solo display I've ever seen. In the most perfect weather, at the most perfect flying display venue. This wasn't an airshow; this was art.
With the countdown now on for 2025, I thought I'd share 20 of my personal highlights of this year's airshow season. I'll post a new batch of clips every day this week, culminating with my favourite airshow moment of the year on Friday.
2. HRV MiG-21bis D, AirVG.
High, distant, backlit... not the greatest display of all time. But fully aerobatic! 100x better than the straight-and-level flypast I'd expected.
Witnessing the last airshow performance by a military-operated MiG-21 in Europe was a dream come true.
