The Normandy Landings happened 80 years ago today in which we played a significant role. We contributed 110 ships and 10,000 sailors in support of the landings. On D-Day, Canadians suffered 1074 casualties, including 359 killed. #CanadaRemembers#DDAY80

#OTD in 1917, SS Mont-Blanc and Imo collided in the narrows of the Halifax Harbour causing the world’s largest pre-nuclear explosion. Over 1600 lost their lives and around 9000 people were injured and homeless. These photos are a sample of Halifax Explosion photos at the museum.
This in turn will help clarify what the role and contribution of the CAF should be in domestic emergency response, enabling better planning and preparation by the military to be ready to support these operations alongside its other tasks and missions.
