@jeetsidhu_@jackyapping The judge did not say he had been drinking for hours. He said that over the hours prior to his murder, he had consumed a small amount of alcohol.
@Molly85224872@MichaelRosenYes@jonsac I'm sure it was. I can appreciate both sides of the argument re: whether it was the right call. Personally I'm troubled by the fact there was a decision to be made at all.
@MichaelRosenYes@jonsac The planned event is not happening. There is no date for when it will happen. The event for the specific date has been cancelled. This strikes me as an odd thing to focus on given the broader issues here.
@MichaelRosenYes@jonsac Is that really the key issue, the difference between cancellation and postponement to an as yet unidentified date? I don't think so.
@stuartadamsuk@JuliaHB1 The story says it's for people with a GRC, which is a small percentage of the trans people in the UK. I think in the circumstances it's understandable, and the story suggests this has been the case for 20 years.
@rogerhehim@PlaidLles@TheNewsAgents@sarahsackman It seems that people are troubled because the statement begins by talking about Jews feeling unsafe. Then says there's a conversation to be had about whether those feelings are based on reality or perception of reality. The addition of the last words seem to make no difference.
@rogerhehim@PlaidLles@TheNewsAgents@sarahsackman Because the bit people are troubled by is this, verbatim:
'...we know that increasingly jewish communities are feeling unsafe. There’s a conversation to be had about whether it’s a perception of unsafety or whether it’s actual unsafety, but neither are acceptable”.
@PlaidLles@TheNewsAgents@sarahsackman Can you explain to me why that additional sentence changes the meaning of the section people are evidently troubled by?
