I really hate to type this, and I know Coach Novakov and the Panthers will likely prove me wrong, but I'm going to pick them to get second in the district this season. Sawyer Anderson returns as a fourth-year starting quarterback and, lucky for him, has the best receiving corps in TXPSFB with Bryson Fields, Jaylen Pile, Carson Darby, and Beckham Smith. A big question mark for the Panthers will be the running back position. Successful Panther teams in the past have always had a bell-cow back to hand the ball off to, but they don't necessarily have that for the upcoming season. On the offensive line, the Panthers will rely on Jonathan Major, Preston Ward and Plano John Paul II transfer Andrew Lockey to rebuild the unit after losing some valuable experience to graduation. Defensively, Landry Sattler, Landon Pratt and Hurley Wiker will lead in the trenches, with Jesse Richardson and Rocco Bigham returning as starters to provide support at the linebacker level. The strongest defensive position group is most definitely the secondary, as ESD transfer Nick Wheeler joins an already loaded group consisting of Drayson Crane, Guy Stern, Juju Mayfield, and others. There are still a lot of talented players on the Panther roster and they are still a force to be reckoned with; however, the team doesn't appear to be as superstar-rich as it has been in the recent past.
