On World Press Freedom Day, #Maldives marks a grim milestone: falling to 108th in the Press Freedom Index, under a Government that has steadily replaced transparency with intimidation.
From restrictive media laws to police action against newsrooms, this administration has chosen fear over accountability.
We stand in full solidarity with the media and demand an immediate end to the intimidation, harassment, and criminalisation of journalists.
A great honour to welcome my dear friend and colleague, H.E. Srgjan Kerim, 62nd President of the United Nations General Assembly, to the Maldives.
As a fellow President of the General Assembly, it is a particular pleasure to host you. Thank you for accepting my invitation.
Asha Bosle’s melodious voice brings forward memories of listening to the radio, gathering around the TV.
A timeless voice that defined timeless music.
My condolences to her family, and loved ones, and the Indian people.
Leaving here one of my favourite songs of Asha Bosle…
“Chura Liya hai tumne joh dil ko,
Nazar nehi churana sanam,
Badal ke meri tum zindagani,
Kahin badal na jana sanam”

A great pleasure to join Prof. @liz_colton and @UNITAR today to engage with students from across the globe. Sharing my experiences as the 76th President of the UN General Assembly is a reminder that our future is in capable hands. Education and diplomacy remain our strongest tools for a better world.
