Today marks the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. As we honor the 1.5 million Armenians murdered by the Ottoman Empire across modern-day Turkey, Syria, and Armenia, we must refuse to let history repeat itself.
In 2020, the military forces of Azerbaijan and Turkey attacked the Armenian population in Nagorno-Karabakh. In 2023, Azerbaijan expelled over 100,000 Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh, continuing the genocidal campaign that had begun over 100 years prior.
On this day of remembrance, we reaffirm the right of the Armenian people — and all people — to freedom, safety, and self-determination.
We had a 100-0 bipartisan deal in the Senate and the House blew it up because the Republicans who run Congress apparently don’t talk to each other and prefer chaos.
#BREAKING: Lawrence: “…we can take them at their word. He said that. Donald Trump’s CLOWN of the day, Steve Witkoff says we can take Vladimir Putin’s word for it, that Russia has not been helping Iran target attacks on American military personnel.”😳😂
This week, John Oliver breaks down the gutting of USAID, highlighting the catastrophic impact. Is it a "scam" or a vital lifeline? The numbers suggest the latter, with devastating consequences for vulnerable populations worldwide! https://t.co/KC8Q47EvI5
All of Trump's arguments for striking Iran and setting the world on fire are nonsense.
Air strikes - no matter how deadly - have zero history of creating democracies or eradicating the knowledge necessary for nuclear weapons.
@cspan@SenOssoff Senator Ossoff thank you for being so principled and dedicated. This is what true patriotism is! This should also be extended to family members and treated like an inside trading if any representatives or senators leak sensitive information.
The pardons Trump is handing out are a huge, growing scandal that not enough people are talking about. This is a money making operation - for for Trump, his family, his crypto pals, and the Trump-affiliated lobbyists and grifters who the pardon seekers pay.
@RepCuellar You took $600,000 in bribes from Azerbaijan – one of the world's most corrupt regimes – and worked on its behalf to block aid to Armenians suffering as a result of Azerbaijan's aggression.
The only House you should be serving time in is the jailhouse.
