@Hiyoko_captain4 No worries bud. I should also mention I think GTA VI is very likely to be QSSR supported on the normal console since I think that's why Sony announced it when they did.
@yayanikugasuki Case and Point, Final Fantasy Rebirth VII a game who's performance on PC is "potentially" the best IF you have the ceiling to run it but is far more optimised on PS5/PS5 Pro which have no performance issues whatsoever but have slightly less image quality.
@yayanikugasuki That is true but it's also conditional. PC ports tend to have very scatter shot implementation which often comes to the user nowadays to know how to fix. Shader Compilation Stutter is a bigger issue on PC then it ever was on console as is traversal stutter in games...
@freeandpoem Bingo but I also think with PC nowadays you need to have technical knowledge to know how to deal with hiccups certain games come with like Shader Compilation Stutter. Steam has a great modding community but many aren't sure what to look for.
@Sigmund_Laevan I think there's 2 reasons.
1. GTA VI
2. Christmas Holidays
We want to make our console as appealing as possible so here's a nice unique version for those looking for gifts for the family. Not bad, right? TBF I think the plates and the Blu-Ray Drive covers can be bought.
@suzune_wiz I think for Sony their is an additional benefit of dropping this before the holiday season. An affordable price and cool design makes it an ideal gift, the Switch 2 Zelda model will be similar for Nintendo fans as well. Even without GTA VI this is a good move.
@1982generation Hahaha! Sometimes the timing is comical, though they are releasing a black cover version of the Blu-Ray drive so it wouldn't be a bad time to get that.
@agano4Sq5@Daichi_DMD_Game That makes sense, if they want to increase the install base offering a good deal before the holidays makes it an ideal product for Christmas. Were Japanese fans worried it'd be increased before then?
@SQEX_fan The disc topic is an interesting anomaly right now. Sony seems to be wanting to hear how developers feel. Those Black disc plates aren't available in other countries so that's a nice addition.
@SlamerUmaibou It's special treatment because Japan got shafted by early price increases due to component shortage and the US's stupid tariffs. I think Sony realise Japan representation is hugely important even for global fans as well.
@zGlkZYdmY1oEdvS@DarkEndMoon1 Lol I just noticed your PS5 DE exclusive also comes with the stand as well. In the UK that's sold separately with that model. I need to visit Japan again at some point, I never got to experience a lot of it.
@Bahamut__ Indeed, I believe Sony want to re-integrate their commitment to Japanese players as the attempt to constantly target only higher price points is unsustainable on it's own. A bigger player-base is a healthier ecosystem. You get the stand as well XD
@machan43 WD SN850 NVME SSD is about ยฃ150-ยฃ160 which is about 33500 yen so yeah you're pretty close. The controller itself is also another 10,000 yen if I'm not mistaken?
@S2NbNveLPX109AV I've got to say I really feel for Japanese fans for expecting a price hike after the PS5 has had so many already. I think Sony want to reclaim the user base they lost earlier in the generation so a nice holiday price and model is a good way to score that.
