Former Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed (Farmaajo) reportedly held a secret meeting with then-Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in early 2020. According to the report, the information was provided by a former diplomat who claimed to have firsthand knowledge of the trips.

The report further stated that Farmaajo traveled to Jerusalem in February 2020 accompanied by Balal Osman, who at the time served as his Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, the Red Sea, and the Gulf of Aden.

According to the former diplomat, the two leaders discussed the possibility of establishing diplomatic relations between Somalia and Israel. However, the report says those efforts did not receive the support of then-U.S. President Donald Trump, who reportedly did not want Somalia included in the regional initiative that later became known as the Abraham Accords.👇

🚨🚨Pirate groups have attacked two vessels in the waters of the Gulf of Aden, highlighting a resurgence of piracy activities in the region.

The Panama-flagged cargo ship Greta Star was reportedly approached by armed men in a small boat on June 15 while sailing south of Yemen’s coastline. Similarly, in recent hours, another general cargo vessel sailing under the flag of Palau was attacked approximately 32 nautical miles south of Hafun in the Bari region of Somalia. It has been confirmed that both vessels successfully escaped the attempted hijackings.
