The range and composition of athletic skills make a lacrosse player unique. This is Pat Spencer, Chris Hogan, Jordan Faison, Cole Kastner and more on @SportsCenter Featured.
The Honor Man is awarded to the top candidate in his class at BUD/S. In 2006, it was Lt. SEAL Brendan Looney.
Brendan was a Navy football player who played his first organized lacrosse game as a sophomore in college. By his senior year, he was a team captain, leading his 2 younger brothers and the @NavyMLax to the 2004 NCAA Championship game — a game played on every Memorial Day.
Brendan’s guiding principles in life were to Be Strong, Be Accountable, and Never Complain. Maryland head coach John Tillman was the assistant at Navy when the 3 Looney brothers dominated the field, and is wearing a shirt in Brendan’s honor today as the Terrapins take on the Irish. Notre Dame’s First Team All American and Tewaaraton finalist, Liam Entenmann, will wear a “BL” on his helmet, honoring Brendan, saying “he was considered to be the ultimate teammate — went onto be a Navy seal.”
During his 59th mission while conducting combat operations in Afghanistan, Brendan was killed. He was 29.
On this Memorial Day, we remember Brendan Looney and every fallen soldier who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
Any coach can motivate players by just using power and fear. But it takes a special coach to motivate players while respecting their free will and mental health.
Charlotte North really BROKE Taylor Moreno’s stick with a shot…
If @charlotten8rth is doing this in practice, we can’t wait to see what she does in today’s All-Star Game 🤯

Great teams are willing to have difficult conversations. They aren't fighting against each other, they're fighting for the best in each other.
Call people up, not out
Speak the truth in love
Humility always
When your teammate is struggling —pick them up.
When your teammate is tired— pump them up.
When your teammate is distant — pull them up.
When your teammate is rolling — build them up.
There is always something you can do to help your teammates. And then another thing.

"Everyday in practice was a competition so when the game came it was nothing that I hadn't already practiced. It was routine. Work ethic eliminates fear,"
- Michael Jordan
The bird bath is now the best bit going in sports. Fans pay for the bird bath section and get sprayed with a garden hose after every XBH. Team’s sprinkler celly has reached stands.

COACHES: Your words can be powerful and impactful. Be sure they're helpful, true, positive, clear, and productive. The way you communicate with your athletes can inspire and encourage. But it can also discourage and frustrate young people. Be intentional with the words you use.
