Once again I find that I'm among the five or six people on a packed plane who care to look out the window at views unavailable to humankind for almost all of our history on earth
@drjuliashaw Cat-related media is a great cat(chall)... good mews definitely a better joke!
On a (p)un-related note, have you come across much research on the law and hope? Writing an article and it seems like an underdeveloped area.
@drjuliashaw 2/2 - Narratives about confidence come to my mind too, not sure on the basis for this but there's a lot of metalinguistic features of communication that can be erroneously used as proxies for this (which itself may not be accurate). Where's the article for? Best of luck 👌
@drjuliashaw I (think I!) remember an episode of bad people where you talked about 'physical countermeasures' to evade polygraphs, so there might be something on masking techniques based on common misconceptions. Eye contact's very problematic for neurodivergent individuals in particular. 1/2
@l_kloft@drjuliashaw The dose-response element is fascinating, though I'd imagine quite impacted by individual variability? Also probably very hard to assess robustly? Looks like an interesting paper!
How does being drunk impact memory?
It's often not as bad we think, actually
"Most lab studies indicate no increased risk of false reporting when intoxicated and tested immediately"
It is usually better to get a statement right away rather than waiting for a witness to sober up
@jason_66 This is absolutely ludicrous, not to mention extremely unsafe! It really relies on the athletes being co-ordinated enough to to endanger each other. Doing it in an endurance race would be far more viable! There are many better ways to affect change.
@DavidEpstein This is wonderful, congrats to Andre! I’m sure he’s fun to teach 👏
The art of asking the right questions and understanding why is a great example of a skill that supplements rather than opposes AI and specifically machine-learning algorithmic ‘intelligence’.
