🚨Strait of Hormuz: US and Iran trade accusations as Pakistan braces for fallout

🇵🇰 Pakistan could potentially face a new energy crunch after the US-Iranian ceasefire collapsed on Tuesday.

🔶 The US blamed Iran for breaking the truce by firing missiles at merchant ships trying to leave the Persian Gulf via the Strait of Hormuz, and struck 80 targets in Iran.

🔶 Iran retaliated against US bases in neighboring countries. US President Donald Trump declared the ceasefire over, calling Iranian negotiators "liars."

💬 "Right now, both parties try posturing toward leverage, rather than committing to all-out war," said Professor Adam Saud Buic, Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences at Bahria University.

Trump's openness to talks offers a glimmer of hope, but Buic warns that continued escalation could plunge the region into a new war.

Key concerns for Pakistan:

🟠 Next week's US-Iran peace talks are scheduled in Islamabad, but the end of the ceasefire could seriously undermine Pakistan's diplomatic position.

🟠 Pakistan's best strategy is "constructive but neutral engagement" with all parties, while securing internal stability and maritime trade routes.

🟠 Pakistan imports nearly 80% of its crude oil from the Persian Gulf, so a long war would hit its economy hard.

💬 "A second sustained escalation would likely require another round of external bailouts for Islamabad," Buic says.

2nd Russia Pakistan International Conference Kazan

On behalf of the Rector @BahriaOfficial, I signed MOU with Kazan Federal University to enhance the academic and research collaboration.

Day 2
2nd International Conference on Pakistan-Russia held in Kazan Russia.
Representing Bahria University at the global news channel. TASS News channel from Russia interviewed me regarding growing ties between Pakistan and Russia.

It also took my views regarding expansion of BRICS and possible entry of Pakistan into this forum.
I also highlighted number of international students studying at Bahria University, and urges the Russian youth to consider BU for their higher studies.

I also met Prof Dr Muhayya Abdurehman whom I met in 2021 at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.
