i immediately go silent when something upsets or hurts me. it's a coping mechanism i have developed over time. instead of expressing my anger or frustration, i simply withdraw and try to process my emotions in private.
Women shouldnโt be expected to give up their surnames after marriage. In fact, it makes far more sense for children to carry their motherโs surname.
A father contributes 50% of the genetic material, but 100% of the pregnancy, risk, labour, birth, and early survival of the child comes from the motherโs body. Her health, her blood, her organs, her hormones, her literal life on the line. If anyoneโs legacy deserves to be carried forward, it is the person who creates, grows, births, and often raises the child. A husbandโs surname isnโt inherently more โfamilyโ than a wifeโs. Itโs just a patriarchal custom that treats men as lineage and women as vessels. We donโt have to keep repeating it.
