@Leilani0n@MelBoomBos@rain_on_flowerz@LISN2DABEAT_@Phil_Lewis_ tf does this mean. are you trying to “let people enjoy things” about how everyone has a right to ignorantly call research into ancient yeast strains evil perverted cannibalism bc they don’t understand anything about the subject
@MelBoomBos@rain_on_flowerz@LISN2DABEAT_@Phil_Lewis_ I recognize that it’s more conscious and controlled. that doesn’t make it immoral. I’m literally a vegan, and making bread from ancient yeasts found in a preserved body is not morally equivalent even to killing and eating an animal
@ThatsAllAreanna my opinion is founded on the fact I’ve worked in a yeast lab and I’m a vegan. I literally think even non-cannibalistic meat eating is wrong! I just understand what it means to cultivate a strain of yeast. how does the moral essence transfer as the yeast multiplied?
@flamboyrising What a weird response to saying you're tired of sharing the earth with cannibals. No it doesn't make sense why or how a human being can literally do this not to me not ever.
@ThatsAllAreanna yeast is not human flesh??????cannibalism means eating the meat of your same species. and the yeast they used would have been the many times clonal offspring of the yeast cells they extracted
do you even know what yeast is? do you think taking a single celled fungus off a 5000 year old body, letting it reproduce in a culture and create a whole bunch of clones of itself, and then putting those clones in bread is the same as eating a person
@Afro_Soulxx@MelBoomBos@LISN2DABEAT_@Phil_Lewis_ I actually find it beautiful and spiritual to resurrect ancient yeast carried by a long dead ancestor whose body was miraculously preserved for us. it’s connecting to him and his world
@rain_on_flowerz@MelBoomBos@LISN2DABEAT_@Phil_Lewis_ I don’t agree! his stomach contents have already been extensively analyzed and it’s provided a ton of fascinating knowledge that helps us connect to ancient people

@flamboyrising Ötzi’s stomach contents have been extensively studied and provide insight into ancient food so it makes sense they’d want to study the yeast too and what kind of bread it would make

@ClownPunished@ctizzie if christians can claim they make bread out of their gods dead body why can’t we leaven bread w an ice mummy’s tummy so long as it’s not plundered cultural heritage which Ötzi is not
@ClownPunished@ctizzie yeah i don’t want to be mean to OP but why on earth is “scientists” in quotation marks like this is fake research. studying ancient yeasts will involve bread-making. you can’t get ancient yeasts from any “normal” “non-weird” source
