I recently discovered that period products can sometimes set off the TSA’s body scanner machines, but there’s no info about it anywhere. A TSA rep I spoke with said pads and pantyliners are likely to flag as anomalies in the machine, prompting uncomfortable searches... 🧵
I really appreciate the bubble I live in that doesn't include the guy referenced here, but it's good to remember why we have so much more work to do. More loud complaining about our periods, it's called advocacy 🩸
@blotchkat I developed a weird vocal tic this past winter that was nearly diagnosed as tourette's, but it turned out to be a migraine symptom that flared when I had a lot of zoom meetings where I was speaking frequently. Or maybe I'm a dramatic faker, who knows really.
I know we’re all tired of being on Zoom, but some important Zoom etiquette reminders:
- everyone wants to see your cat
- don’t just say “my cat is here,” hold your cat up to the camera so we can see it
- when your cat is on camera, either say “cat” or type “cat” in the chat
I made noise about this a couple of years ago, and I wasn't the first (or, apparently, the last). As we reflect on post 9/11 changes, is this particular practice really making air travel safer? - https://t.co/veulq0QYyr via @GoogleNews
It goes without saying, that this is a terrible mark against the @USParalympics. Such a disgusting act of discrimination and exclusion towards disabled people. https://t.co/UmqjD6Dv8K
@EhlersAintEasy@AshHultman Ah, I'm so sorry, sometimes I get deep throat spasms that feel a bit like my whole throat is crushed sometimes. I hope you are feeling better today. My wackiest comfort hack for that maddening feeling has been to make a ponytail on top of my head and pull straight up. Ugh, necks!
@EhlersAintEasy@AshHultman Is the neck pain all on one side, or both? For me, one sided neck pain is part of a migraine, and the big fatigue is some kind of terrible body flare. I tend to get them back to back or on top of one another, often hormonally triggered or just overdoing life. Feel better soon!
Trans men and non-binary people also have miscarriages.
Except when we do, many of us can’t access the care we need without discrimination, fight with our insurance companies to get that care covered, and have to deal with providers who do not understand our literal bodies.
@MortuaryReport As with many self reductions it's very unsettling but also gratifying. I don't think this one will ever become run of the mill for me. Anything close to the neck seems to set off a panic tripwire for my particular body (tattoos and massage, too)
@MortuaryReport Collarbone lego snap is not one I get all the time, but when it happens it just sounds like I have completed the skeleton! I'm feeling v validated by this list tho. My hip/SI/pubic symphisis resets are the most satisfying from a sensation/relief perspective
@MortuaryReport Aw shoot, I was getting ready to laugh (with you) in "of COURSE that happened" but CRPS means no laughs, not even a little bit. Sorry, friend. RIP toenail
