Tonight, a group of 15-year-olds went to Tenpin Bowling in Dewsbury. While they were there, they saw a homeless man outside in the cold and rain.

They did not ignore him. They approached him, gave him food and took the time to listen. After learning that he had been homeless for four days following a bereavement and relationship breakdown, they found my contact details and called us for help.

At 11.33pm, our team is now with him and helping him into safe accommodation.

Most importantly, thank you to these teenagers. At just 15 years old, they showed compassion, love and understanding when many others may have simply walked past.

Everyone asks "how do we afford PIP?"

Nobody asks "why does disability cost so much?"

A grab rail: £8 at Screwfix. £85 through a mobility company.

Adapted cutlery: £12 to manufacture. £35 in the catalogue.

A shower seat: £15 plastic stool. £90 as a "shower aid."

A postural chair: £200 to build. £800 with "disability" on the label.

Disability costs more because the market CHARGES more. Not because it COSTS more. The word "adapted" on the box adds 300-500% to the price.

PIP exists to cover the "extra cost of disability." But the extra cost is ARTIFICIAL. Created by manufacturers who know you NEED the product and price accordingly.

Fix the price. Sell aids at cost. Remove the markup. Remove the VAT. Remove the glossy catalogue and the sales rep's commission.

The "extra cost of disability" drops by 60-80%. PIP spending falls. Without cutting a single person's support.

Helen Whately has posted thirteen times asking how to cut PIP. She has never once asked why disability products cost five times what they should.

Lillia has been missing for one week today.
The 13-year-old disappeared after she was last seen at Piccadilly Gardens bus station last Friday (September 11). The last confirmed sighting of her was then at 1.50pm on Saturday (September 12), when detectives believe she boarded the 247 bus at the Trafford Centre.
A huge search is underway for the Bolton teenager with police holding a major press conference her mother attended last night.
