By the way, this is why I rate Obafemi Awolowo over Nnamdi Azikiwe.
Awolowo definitely wasn't a Pan-Africanist, but even as a Yoruba tribalist, he at least believed in the sovereignty and well-being of his Yoruba people. He would never have been caught dead publicly elevating any oyibo person over his Yoruba people in this manner.
Azikiwe on the other hand, pretended to be a Pan-Africanist and used the language of anti-imperialism, while standing for absolutely nothing. At best, he was a great speech maker and nothing more.
Nkrumah was supposedly his protegé before returning to Ghana, but compared to Nkrumah's legacy, he might as well not even exist. Every Ghanaian alive cannot go through 1 day without interacting with something Nkrumah did for Ghana. The only thing Azikiwe is known for is that his picture is on our money and his name is on the Abuja airport.
A complete waste of political potential and a big part of the reason why Nigeria was so easy to destabilise.
Four Mother’s Days every year and you still chose the only Father’s Day to post your mum.
Nobody cares about your single mum storyline. Fuck off and let the day be about fathers for once.
I read about you 😂 Tried football trials at several clubs but nobody saw any talent. Last trial at Barcelona, they gave you money to buy a car and start Uber.
That's why you love the institution so much.
No wonder anytime you come for Ronaldo, I understand, you gats eat 😂
Ronaldo lack of dictatorship is the reason he hasn’t won the World Cup…..
Choose your team, choose your coach….
Choose everything from top to bottom…
Watch and see yourself win
The year was 2012 at the European Championship in Poland and Ukraine
Portugal has lost their first game to Germany. They beat Denmark in the second game and had all to play for in the final game against the Netherlands
Portugal, Netherlands and Denmark have a shout for the second spot
A two nil win for the Dutch will see them qualify especially if Denmark didn't get a result against Germany
For Portugal, a draw might be dangerous. They need a win
Boom, Rafael Van Der Vaart scored early for the Dutch, one more goal and Portugal will be out
Pressure on the Selecao before Cristiano Ronaldo took matters into his hands
Ronaldo ran through the Dutch team like hot knife cutting through bread.
He hit post, forced saves before equalizing late in the first half to calm the nerves of the Portuguese team
The second half was even better. He hit the post once again, created chances before scoring the winner and Portugal went through to the quarterfinal
It was one of Cristiano Ronaldo's greatest performances for Portugal
I can't count how many of such games he had for Portugal.
He will just take matters in his hands
In the quarterfinal, Ronaldo scored as Portugal best Czech by a lone goal
Portugal were stopped by eventual Champions, Spain in the semifinal via penalties
Ronaldo's longevity might be his undoing though
Bro, you write better. You’re also far more intelligent than most when it comes to acknowledging Ronaldo’s flaws without trying to paint him as a perfect human.
I can banter Messi all day, but when I talk about him outside a debate with Ronaldo and without personal bias, I give him all his flowers. Impeccable footballer.
But the daily, forced narratives on social media aimed at tarnishing Ronaldo’s legacy are just exhausting.
Flaws and all, World Cup or not, he’s the greatest footballer in my eyes, and to millions worldwide. You simply cannot rewrite that history.
I always love your write up
Always precise and dope, and your knowledge is vast
However,, there are "four statements" that are fallacies in the media space
• Cristiano Ronaldo is arrogant but Lionel Messi is humble
• Ronaldo chase records, Messi doesn't
• Ronaldo cares about the rivalry, Messi doesn't
• Ronaldo is hard work, Messi is talent
All these four, they are lies!!
Everything you said about Messi is good but it kinda paints Ronaldo as a selfish and a bad person
First, I don't believe all these Portugal players don't regard Ronaldo
I have followed football to a stage where I don't follow media noise
There is competition amongst team mates. You played football and you know this
An average European footballer has this perceived arrogant personality
Ask Zinedine Zidane, ask Thierry Henry, ask Arjen Robben, ask Eden Hazard, ask some of the great European players, etc
Second, before I judge someone, I sometimes check where they are from which are foundations to a lot of things
In 2007, Ronaldo was asked who the best player in the history of football is
He said;
"Cristiano Ronaldo"
He was 21 years and he hasn't even achieved anything
In 2012, when Ronaldo was asked about the Ballon d'Or
He said;
"in Portugal, we don't act like we don't want something. We say it out the way we feel it. I want to win the Ballon d'Or"
You have heard how Jose Mourinho speaks......
I think Nani once said he is as good as Ronaldo but Ronaldo was way more consistent. I can't remember how he put it again
These are the Portuguese ways of speaking and actions. They don't hide it and it doesn't make them arrogant
The Joao Neves interview, I didn't condemn him because of two things;
First, he is young and might not have meant it the way the media portrayed it
Second, it's the Portuguese way of speaking
All these Ronaldo is chasing records, he reacts or doesn't talk to anyone if he doesn't score doesn't make him arrogant or selfish
That's a personality trait and a way of dealing with disappointment
Yes, maybe sometimes;
He overdoes it or he should have done better, but then, is there anyone 100% perfect in character
And it's not every game that he doesn't score that he won't talk to his teammates after the game
He has played over 1000 games
Dring the BBC/MSN era.
The MSN said they use to share glasses of wine together
Ronaldo said;
He keeps a professional friendship with the BBC. They don't share wine, they come to work and go to their houses
Does that make the BBC group worse than the MSN?
Messi doesn't chase records....
Was it not the same Messi that messaged Pep Guardiola when Zlatan Ibrahimovic was making the headlines ahead of him in Barcelona
And it led to Zlatan being marginalized from the team!
Was it not the same Messi that said he was hurt when Ronaldo tied his Ballon d'Or awards?
Was it not the same Messi that told Guillerm Ballague that he wants to outdo Cristiano
So, you still think he doesn't chase records?
Let me tell you today, Messi has eyes on 1000 career goals. If anyone tells you otherwise, it's a lie
The Argentina team
You see the Argentine team that became successful
It's just because we don't give him his flowers. Lionel Scaloni was the reason why that team succeeded
Before now, Argentina was individualistic but when Scaloni came, the first thing he did was break that individualism structure
That was what the birth of whatever you see in the Argentina national team today
Scaloni fostered unity, trust, friendliness, and loyalty among the Argentine players and that was the beginning of their greatness
Once again, great write up but sometimes what the media paints are far from the truth
Well done
Messi is a great player but never greater than Ronaldo in any world. The only problem with Ronaldo is that he’s the best and never hides his feelings, value himself as a superstar that he is and doesn’t form those humble gimmicks. His superstar Aura annoy his enemy even more.
