"The most precious gift in an educator is a sort of sacred and loving attention to the child's mysterious identity, which is a hidden thing that no techniques can reach." - Jacques Maritain
@lukei4655@FrNickOFMConv Is Sertillanges’s idea of the intellectual life as it’s own calling something that’s part of Dominican thinking like the vocation of the educator is for Lasallians? I’ve used those to have a more expansive idea of vocation for my first year experience students.

ICYMI: our Poetry panel featured a surprise performance by Chip Tucker–a blues rendition of Hardy’s “In Tenibris (I).” Tucker explained, “Hardy was, in the glint of his jaundiced eye and his gusto for a language at once earthy, studied, and outlandish, a bluesman at heart.”
Registration is live for EVENT 2024, the conference bringing together @navsa , @BAVS_UK , @AusVicStudAssoc, Victorians Institute, and DACH-Victorianists! https://t.co/sN5UyZFjO0

@rachelmtrimmer It’s a myth that communal clay pipes in taverns had the tips broken off in between uses. Clay pipes were good for cleaning between uses because you can bake them. Pipe cleaners are a newer invention, and what you needed to do was remove debris and moisture.
@FILWD@HippyMomPhD We’ve gone a similar route with emphasizing literacy and math and following our daughters’ interests in the context of human formation. Sometimes I wish I could support parents the way I train faculty. I think the importance of relational pedagogy supports homeschooling.
