Redefining Ageing in India | Building Roadmap for Active & Purposeful Living | Voice on Senior living & Longevity | Founder - Primus Senior Living & Marzi
The Netherlands solved two problems with one idea.
Students get subsidised housing.
Older adults get companionship.
At Humanitas Deventer, students spend ~30 hours/month with senior residents in exchange for affordable accommodation.
No charity. No obligation. Just community.
India's 60+ population will grow from 149M today to nearly 347M by 2050, while our cities also face an affordable housing crisis for young people.
What if we connected those two problems instead of solving them separately?
Less isolation. More community. Better ageing.
Would you support an intergenerational housing pilot in India?

Europe is redesigning how people age.
The Netherlands realised that more institutions didn't necessarily mean better ageing.
So they invested in community living, intergenerational housing and home-based care.
India's 60+ population will grow from 149M today to 347M by 2050.
We still have a choice.
Let's build communities before we build institutions.
Should India lead the future of senior living instead of importing yesterday's model?

Every senior who lives well is usually standing on the shoulders of someone carrying an invisible load.
The best senior living communities don't just support older adults.
They give families their lives back.
Who is the unseen caregiver in your family?

Today feels deeply personal.
My grandmother inspired my journey into senior living. She showed me that ageing should never mean giving up independence, purpose or community.
Today, that vision takes a significant step forward.
Primus Senior Living and HDFC Capital are partnering to create a ₹2,000 crore platform—the largest institutional investment in India's senior living sector.
This isn't just about capital. It's about recognising that India's seniors deserve better choices, better communities and better ways to age.
Thank you, @HDFCCapital and Vipul Roongta, for believing in this vision.

A 72-year-old engineer once told me,
"I don't want to live long. I want to live well."
That's the shift.
- From healthcare to wellbeing.
- From dependence to dignity.
- From isolation to community.
- From surviving to thriving.
Purpose doesn't retire. And neither should joy.
Building communities where seniors belong, contribute, and create.
What does living well in your 70s & 80s look like to you?

This is the invisible cost of a system with no caregiver support. If you know someone doing this right now -- check in on them, not just the parent they're caring for.
We talk endlessly about the senior. We never talk about the daughter who gave up her career to care for them. A thread on India's invisible caregiver crisis.
When we build better infrastructure for seniors, we're not only serving the senior. We're liberating the family member currently serving as an unpaid, untrained system of last resort.
India has an estimated 50 million informal caregivers for seniors - overwhelmingly women, overwhelmingly unpaid, overwhelmingly untrained. We don't measure this. We don't compensate it. We barely acknowledge it.
Japan eats fish, soy, and vegetables daily, Protien in every meal, not an afterthought. It shows 92g of protein a day, 12 more years of life than India's 70g.
India has dal, paneer, eggs, curd. We have the ingredients. We just haven't built the habit.
Protein isn't about bodybuilding. For seniors, it's about something far more urgent. A thread on the nutrition gap quietly costing India its elders' mobility.
What we eat at 65 determines what we can do at 75. It requires someone to say clearly: seniors need more protein, better quality nutrition, tailored guidance.
