🏟️ Despite its charms, the FA Vase generally remains a footnote in the football calendar, escaping the attentions of the average match-going fan.

📚 But the 2020/21 season was like no other. With the country in and out of various lockdown restrictions, ‘elite’ sport was largely played behind closed doors. If you wanted to get your football fix, you had to attend local non-league games.

✍️ Set in a unique football season fraught with uncertainty, this fascinating book includes:

☑️ A first-person account of Lowery’s attempt to attend a game in every round of the 2020/21 FA Vase

☑️ Visits to an array of non-league clubs – from Whitley Bay to Warrington Rylands – from where Lowery captures the matchday experience in light-hearted but vivid detail

☑️ Frank reflection on Lowery’s own mental state to provide a deeper insight into his lockdown experience

☑️ An interesting and emotional side-plot as Lowery’s beloved Sutton United look like they could make history

✍️ Filled with funny and sometimes poignant reflections on life and the grass roots game, Amateur Hour captures both the strangeness of the lockdown period and the beauty of lower-league football.

Surely better punishment is to only sell tickets to away fans? Given they’re ID verified with England too. All money donated to charity. 8,000 England fans at your own home game is a far bigger punishment than having a load of kids in

[John Cross @johncrossmirror]

Croatia v England
“Behind closed doors” with 6,200 screaming under-14 kids.
I don’t begrudge them. Not at all.
But why are England fans being punished? How is this behind closed doors?
Utter farce from UEFA.

[Free Lions @WeAreFreeLions]

Ahead of England’s game with Croatia tomorrow night in Rijeka, we reiterate our stance that collective punishments on supporters should not exist.

The sanctions in place against our opponents should not impact England supporters, who should still receive the normal 5% allocation. England will have just 100 supporters in attendance via the FA’s delegate allocation.

We will continue to raise this issue with UEFA through @FansEurope.

Went to Prague without a ticket and accidentally joined the Czech ultras

[Johnnie Lowery @AddedSix]

@Mattftfc Managed a grand total of zero shots on target against a team in the relegation zone after all that. Unbelievable headloss 🙃

[Johnnie Lowery @AddedSix]

24 hours after being a Czech ultra I’m in Tamworth. No issues getting an away end ticket here thankfully
