Hi, I'm a grade 8 student researching about addiction, causes, treatments, ect. I’m using twitter to help deepen my understanding of what addiction really is.
The whole science behind it and how every #addiction is different makes me curious. The more I research and try to understand the more questions I start to have. I just find that it is so interesting and there is always something new to learn.2/2
I will defentily check your blog out! #Addiction has been something that’s peeked my interest since I wrote a speech about the #opioidcrisis last year. When we were told to pick a topic to study for the rest of the year I knew I had to do mine on addiction. 1/2 https://t.co/haIMeoNsCs
@Addiction2Megan Anytime! I write a lot about addiction for @workithealth - you can read a lot of my stuff on the blog there at https://t.co/jVS8A4b4Ck - what made you so interested in addiction?
Most definitely. I believe strongly that people can be #addicted to video games, internet and there electronics. Although it is not yet an official and diagnosable #addiction I think that many people struggle with some kind of addiction disorder to electronics. https://t.co/PnJszDtCF5
But I can agree with you when you say that building coping tools to help you when you are struggling can really help. Thanks for your time and your help I really appreciate it! 2/2
This all makes a lot of sense. Sounds like you have built up an amazing support system and made it your goal to get sober no matter how many times it took. Everyone is different and I think different things help different people during recovery. 1/2 https://t.co/AJUJMVs5Tn
@Addiction2Megan I’m not sure what the magical formula for success is but I think having healthy coping tools you can turn to when times get good, bad, or just boring, is important.
@kalireadsbooks That I can understand. I can’t say from experience but from what I have learned #addiction isnt easy but your #recovering and here now. From your expirence you can educate and help people.
Hi Kali! Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I believe that eventually an #addiction that a #recovering addict had becomes more like an expirence like any other. It is something you feel comfortable wearing in your sleeve because it got you where you are today. 1/2 https://t.co/k4lilxPVS7
@Addiction2Megan Hi Megan! I have 8 years in recovery and although the early stages were hard, today I’m proud to be an addict in recovery and thankful for all I’ve experienced. I don’t regularly crave or think about drugs. Things get considerably easier with time. Feel free to reach out w ?’s.
@kalireadsbooks I do have a couple questions. What do you think made you successful in recovery? I am curious to know why some people are successful at recovering and why some aren’t.
I guess once you are far in #recover or like you 8 years, you know enough to know that you are better off without the #addiction that fuelled your life. 2/2
I can’t imagine the amount of people who have just told you to “get over it”. I don’t and can’t imagine what it would be like but I try my best to try and understand. It’s not a choice but so many people think it is. https://t.co/muY3ePsIZu
From what I know I think that if one is in enough pain and is suffering they should be able to get physician assisted suicide. That is just my opinion from the amount of information I know about it. I don’t think I know enough to make an educated decision I will continue research https://t.co/ck5BqnFLKy
Thank you for your help and answering some of my questions. Getting different experiences is helping to deepen my understanding of #addiction. I wish you luck in your #recovery journey. https://t.co/X1enX4lCTF
Right. Being an #addict isn’t something people should want to be when they grow up. Everything and anything can be a trigger, so it must be really hard to to recover from something when everything reminds of your #addiction. https://t.co/pIzIt4RPUJ
Thank you! I hope to learn as much as possible as it is relevant new information about cannabis is being released. I’m happy that youth like me can be educated on topics such as cannabis. https://t.co/wv3WX0Mj4y
@Addiction2Megan You are smart to be asking questions. #cannabinoidreceptors were discovered in 1962 when I was born & didn't know that in grade 8. Now Niagara college is teaching cannabis growing for the recreational. Most politicians don't know the questions grown up patients are learning.
Okay thank you! This cleared things up I will look further into this and continue my research. I was unaware that marijuana was slang and the prober term was cannabis. Thanks again for your help. https://t.co/msHrLpUj5E
@Addiction2Megan I compare it now as a patient like coffee or pop kind of feel good & then the #EndocannabinoidSystem starts to work on my leg pain. Terpenes of a well grown blueberry strain is tasty before bed. I wouldn't go with the slang & education is key doing your cannabis research. 👷👍
Understood, before you can start recovering you need to acccept yourself for what you are and try to seek help. I hope one day you can fully respect yourself again and think highly of yourself again. Thanks for your help! https://t.co/YfIDajALt4
Makes sense. #addiction must take a big tole on your body. I have heard that gets easier but of course I can’t tell you form experience but I’m sure it will. Do you think there will ever be a day when you don’t think about it? https://t.co/DpsnEAyibR
Nearly 1 million people were out of the workforce because of opioid addiction in 2015, according to study - The Washington Post https://t.co/XP9CyQhU5E
