With the majority of schools in England and Wales about to break up for the holidays this week, the RNLI has told GMB that the number of callouts this year has already increased before the busy summer season has even begun.
@KHemingwaynews reports
Thank you @KHemingwaynews and @GMB for raising awareness of the incredible work of @RNLI volunteer crews including @GuyAddington especially now we are in our busy summer period. Great to remind people what to do if they do find themselves in trouble in the water… #FloattoLive 🧡
Watch before going to the beach this Bank holiday. Be aware, this is the most dangerous time of the year as the air warms up quickly but the water stays cold. Cold shock kills in seconds, it becomes maximum in water between 10-15 deg. C. i.e. the current sea temps around the UK.
Would you take the 365 day cold shower challenge? That's exactly what @AddingtonGuy from Margate crew has been doing this year! His aim is to raise money for us, and to highlight water safety and responsible water use.
His final shower-down is today 👇

I’m claiming a ‘strengthened immune system’; I’ve a cold but it seems to be affecting me less than it might!
